Performance by The Academy of Irish Music

Join us for a journey through contemporary and timeless Irish traditional music with The Academy of Irish Music. This will be an evening of song, tradition, and history.

The Academy of Irish Music Chicago is an intergenerational performing ensemble and school dedicated to advancing Irish traditional music. Its sound is both contemporary and timeless, setting traditional Irish tunes and airs with classical and popular musical influences. Noel Rice, of Glenview by way of Geashill Co. Offaly, Ireland, founded and led the group until his death in 2019. The Academy appears at cultural events from the Milwaukee Irish Fest to weddings all over the Chicagoland area. The Academy is proud to support the Palestinian cause and has provided music for fundraisers at Nabala Cafe and led the session at Fields of Palestine: A Benefit Concert for Gaza in February 2025 which raised over $16,000 for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. The Academy recently participated in BIYA BIYA Productions’ Diaspora Duos concert series with the Palestinian Youth Movement Ensemble.

📖🎼 Two weeks ago we held a class on the Qasida, long form Arabic Poetry, where Kariem walked us through the history of Qasida, a breakdown of how to create one, and learned about important Arab poets and figures.

We hope to hold this informative class again!
