Why do some stories feel like they were made specifically for us?
A book, movie, or TV show can tell a story that has absolutely nothing to do with our actual lives and somehow still make us feel seen.
In this video, I’m thinking about what makes a story feel personal: emotional truth, specificity, characters we recognize ourselves in, and the strange ways our favorite stories can become connected to different seasons of our own lives. Because maybe a story doesn’t have to tell our story to make us feel like it does.

September always makes me want to disappear into a really good story.
A book.
A movie.
A TV show I’ve already seen 17 times.
A world I desperately wish I could visit.
A mystery I know I can solve. 😂
