🎤 Johanna Eppley brings nearly two decades of vocal expertise to our All-State audition prep line-up. An East Texas native, she honed her craft studying Opera at Stephen F. Austin State University before dedicating her career to shaping the next generation of Texas vocalists.

She currently serves as the director of choirs at Pine Tree ISD in Longview, Texas. She also serves her community as the TMEA Region 4 secretary, continuing a long tenure of leadership in the region.

🎶 Dan Miner brings an exceptional blend of performance and instructional expertise to this year‘s All-State prep. He won the prestigious 2024 Emily Crocker Emerging Composer Competition and has published over 15 sight-singing books to help young musicians build elite sight-reading skills.

He currently serves as the head choir director at Travis High School in Fort Bend ISD, where his ensembles consistently take home top honors and sweepstakes awards. He balances his educational career with active roles as a composer, a statewide clinician, and the organist at Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

🎵 Dr. Kent Eshelman, a world-class tuba player and Yamaha and Denis Wick artist who won first place at both the Jeju and Leonard Falcone international solo competitions. A recipient of the ITEA Roger Bobo Award for Excellence in Recording, Kent has released numerous acclaimed albums spanning classical, quintet, and jazz tuba, alongside a boogie-woogie and stride piano album.

Currently, Kent serves as a Professor of Music at Baylor University, where he has been teaching since 2009. He also performs as the Principal Tuba of the Waco Symphony Orchestra and is a founding member of the Brass Mammoth quartet.
