PAKs with Purpose. Donate today! www.citypak.org The CITYPAK Project was founded by lifelong Chicago resident, Ron Kaplan.

Ron wanted to create something that would make life on the streets of Chicago a little easier. He shared his idea with Hank Bernbaum, president of Chicago-based High Sierra Sport Company, and later met with Mike Angelini, a member of High Sierra’s design team. The goal: to design and provide a useful, high quality backpack for the homeless.

Behind every CITYPAK distributed is a community of people willing to show up and help.

To our volunteers: thank you.

Whether you've helped assemble PAKs, supported distributions, organized supplies, or shared our mission with others, your time and effort help make this work possible.
The impact of a CITYPAK begins long before it reaches someone's hands, and that's because of people like you.

We're grateful to have you as part of the CITYPAK community.

This is what community looks like.
Across cities, states, and countries, CITYPAKs are helping provide practical resources to people navigating some of life's most difficult moments.

Every pin on this map represents a partnership. A distribution. A volunteer. A donor. A person who chose to help.

Impact isn't measured by geography alone. It's measured by the communities that come together to make a difference.
Thank you for being part of CITYPAK's story. 🌎

A CITYPAK isn't always packed and handed out by our team directly.

Instead, we partner with trusted nonprofits and community organizations that already serve people navigating housing instability, disaster recovery, and other challenging circumstances.

These organizations understand the unique needs of their communities, allowing CITYPAKs to reach the people who can benefit from them most.

It's a model built on collaboration, and it's what makes our impact possible.

Summer brings longer days, but it also brings new challenges.

For individuals navigating housing instability, extreme heat can increase the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other serious health concerns. That's why preparedness matters year-round.

Here are a few ways to stay safer during hot weather:
💧 Drink water regularly, even before you feel thirsty.
🧢 Seek shade or cooling centers during the hottest part of the day whenever possible.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
🌡️ Know the signs of heat exhaustion, including dizziness, headache, nausea, or heavy sweating.
🤝 Check in on neighbors, friends, and others who may be especially vulnerable.
At CITYPAK, we believe preparedness starts with access to practical resources. Every CITYPAK is designed to help people carry essential belongings and stay ready for changing conditions, because having the right tools can make a meaningful difference.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and take care of one another this summer.

This summer, we've been proud to proud to partner with so many organizations making an impact in communities across the country.

Together, we've already kicked off the season with several CITYPAK distributions from East Coast to West Coast, providing practical resources to individuals and families navigating housing instability and other difficult circumstances.

Thank you to every partner, volunteer, and supporter helping make this work possible. We're looking forward to more distributions this summer! ☀️🎒

Summer Reality Check. Myth: “Providing aid just enables homelessness.”
Reality: Providing practical support reduces harm and helps people survive dangerous conditions.

Extreme heat isn’t uncomfortable, it’s life-threatening for people living without shelter or safe storage. Sun exposure, dehydration, and carrying belongings in 100° weather create real risk.

CITYPAKs provide weather protection and hands-free mobility during extreme summer conditions, helping protect essentials while reducing physical strain.

Support doesn’t enable homelessness. It protects people while they navigate it.

Because dignity doesn’t take a season off.

A backpack can be more than just a backpack.

CITYPAK was created to provide practical resources for people navigating housing instability, disaster response, and other challenging life circumstances.

Each CITYPAK is designed with purpose, combining storage, weather protection, visibility features, and organization into one durable system that helps people carry what matters most.

Through partnerships with nonprofits, relief organizations, and community groups around the world, CITYPAKs are distributed directly to those who need them most.
Because everyone deserves access to resources that support safety, preparedness, and dignity.

Today, many of us gather with family, friends, and community to celebrate.

At CITYPAK, we're also reminded that not everyone experiences safety, stability, or a place to call home in the same way. That's why access to practical resources, emergency preparedness, and community support matters every day of the year.

This Independence Day, we're grateful for the organizations, volunteers, and supporters working to ensure that more people have access to the essentials they need during times of transition.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Fourth of July.

Everyone deserves a safe place to be themselves.

For many LGBTQ+ youth, that safety is not guaranteed, and too often, it leads to housing instability.

As we wrap up Pride Month, we’re reminded that support can take many forms. Sometimes, it starts with something simple: a durable bag, a protected document, a small moment of dignity in the middle of uncertainty.

Because being seen matters. Being supported matters.

CITYPAK is proud to partner with The Salvation Army Harlem Temple Corps for their Summer mini–Don’t Walk By outreach in Harlem. 💙

On June 9, CITYPAK donated 200 PAKs to support neighbors in need through the Harlem Temple Corps at 540 Lenox Avenue.

With street outreach, dinner, and onsite services, this day is about more than resources. It’s about connection, care, and making sure dignity reaches those who need it most.

Grateful to The Salvation Army USA and all who continue to show up for the Harlem community.
