What is sistering?
Sistering comes from a carpentry concept: When one beam weakens, it isn’t torn out or replaced—instead it will have one or two stronger beams built alongside it for support.
Sistering is a reminder that women don’t need to face life’s difficulties alone.
We can, and should, uplift other women.
Embracing our interdependence through seeking and offering support is a sign of profound strength, not weakness. It also challenges the competitive, patriarchal narrative we face day to day.
Rather than tearing each other down, sistering inspires us to build each other up. 👩🏻🤝👩🏽

Still Becoming, the theme our September Open House, brings women across generations together for a day of conversation, reflection and creative exploration of the lives we’re living now and the possibilities we may not yet be able to see.
