A racing heart can become more than a racing heart once your brain starts keeping score
You notice the sensation, scan for danger, remember the last time it happened, and suddenly part of you is waiting for the next wave before this one has even passed
That kind of anxiety loop can make ordinary body sensations feel loaded with meaning
In anxiety therapy, we can slow down what happens between sensation, interpretation, and anticipation. That might include understanding your nervous system response, noticing the stories your mind attaches to certain sensations, and creating more room to respond instead of immediately bracing
If you’re looking for anxiety therapy in Chicago, LifePath offers depth-oriented, trauma-informed therapy that makes space for both what your body is experiencing and what your mind is making of it

Your brain had a TED Talk prepared. Your mouth filed a last-minute cancellation.
Losing your words can be funny, and it can also feel surprisingly vulnerable when part of you is already tracking how you’re being perceived.
In relational therapy, we pay attention to those little moments too. The pause. The second-guessing. The urge to retreat. The split second where being understood suddenly feels harder than it did in your head.
Those moments can offer clues about anxiety, relationship patterns, and what happens inside you when there’s another person on the receiving end.
At LifePath, our trauma-informed and depth-oriented therapy makes room for the unfinished sentences too.
Your nervous system had a different agenda. 😭
A therapy session doesn’t have to arrive neatly organized
You can lose the thread. Sit in silence. Change your mind halfway through a sentence. Know that something matters without having the language for it yet
Those moments aren’t interruptions to the work. They can be part of the work
Relational therapy pays attention to what happens when you’re allowed to be uncertain and still stay connected. Over time, being met with curiosity instead of pressure can create room to notice what you usually hide, rush past, or try to explain away
If you’re looking for a Chicago therapist offering depth-oriented, trauma-informed therapy, LifePath makes space for the unfinished sentences too

You can tell when a conversation has stopped being about connection and started becoming about damage control
You’re choosing words for their likely impact, not their honesty. Tracking tone. Adding disclaimers. Leaving out the part that feels too risky to say plainly
Over time, that kind of self-monitoring can shape the way you relate
Relational therapy gives us room to look at those patterns with curiosity. What have you learned to expect when you disagree? What happens in your body when someone seems disappointed, distant, or upset? What are you protecting when you edit yourself?
Those questions can open up a deeper understanding of attachment, communication, and the relationship patterns that keep repeating
If you’re looking for a Chicago therapist offering relational, depth-oriented, or trauma-informed therapy, this is the kind of work we make space for at LifePath

Knowing a boundary makes sense and feeling completely comfortable setting it are two very different skill sets
Therapists spend a lot of time helping other people notice where they’re overextending, taking responsibility for someone else’s feelings, or abandoning their own limits to preserve connection
Then it’s our turn and suddenly we’re rereading the email wondering if “I’m unavailable that day” was somehow an act of aggression
Therapist boundaries can bring up our own histories with conflict, responsibility, approval, and being needed. Clinical insight doesn’t make us immune to any of that
Sometimes caring for therapist burnout includes getting curious about why a perfectly reasonable limit can feel so emotionally unreasonable once it’s ours
Turns out therapists are also people. Extremely inconvenient
Save this for your next three-business-day guilt spiral.
At some point "I just need a minute" stopped being a request and started being a fantasy.

There’s something about this time of year that can feel a little in-between.
Summer isn’t quite over, and somehow the next season already feels close.
Maybe you’re trying to enjoy what’s here while also thinking about everything waiting for you.
Maybe you’re ready for a change.
Maybe you’re wondering where the summer went.
Transitions can be funny like that. We can be grateful for what a season held and still be ready to leave parts of it behind.
So rather than rushing into the next thing, maybe there’s room to notice:
What has felt good lately?
What has felt heavy?
What do you want to carry forward?
What are you ready to have a little less of?
You don’t need to have the next season figured out before it arrives.
For now, we can just get curious about where you are.
We’ll keep making room for that in our work together.
See you soon.
