Oasis FAQ: Why Does Bible Poverty Still Exist?

With more than 550 million Christians living in Africa, many people are surprised to learn that Bible poverty remains a serious challenge.

The issue is not simply printing Bibles.

The challenge is ensuring believers have access to affordable, relevant, and accessible biblical resources that speak into their daily realities.

That is why Oasis works alongside African authors, churches, ministries, and publishing partners to provide contextually relevant Bibles and discipleship resources across the continent.

When Christians have access to God's Word, disciples are strengthened, churches grow, and communities are transformed.

What surprised you most about Bible poverty in Africa?

God's Word brings hope, even in the midst of hardship.❤️

Because of conflict in the English-speaking regions of Cameroon, many families have lost homes, possessions, and stability.

Through local ministry partnerships, pastors and believers received study Bibles and contextual biblical resources that are helping strengthen their faith during difficult times.

As Rev Sone Charles shared:

"This was a big blessing to them to have Bibles."

Thank you for helping bring comfort, hope, and God's truth where it is needed most.

What foundation will Liberia's next generation of military leaders build their lives upon?

Through the Armed Forces of Liberia Chaplaincy, Christian military cadets are being discipled and mentored as they prepare to serve their nation. A Bible in the hands of a young cadet today can influence a lifetime of faithful leadership tomorrow.

As these young men and women begin their careers, God's Word can help shape their character, leadership, and service. Join us in equipping them with 500 New Living Translation Text Bibles here: https://godswordforafrica.com/project/bibles-for-christian-military-cadets-in-liberia/

Please pray for Liberia's future leaders as they grow in faith and purpose.

The most effective ministry investments are often the ones that multiply.

An Africa Study Bible in the hands of a pastor influences congregations. In the hands of a teacher, it shapes students. And in the hands of a ministry leader, it impacts communities.

Through God's Word for Africa, supporters are helping equip leaders across Africa with contextualized biblical resources that strengthen discipleship and ministry effectiveness. More than 25 active projects are currently placing Scripture where it is needed most.

The goal is not simply distributing Bibles. The goal is equipping leaders who will multiply biblical influence throughout Africa.

A child cannot live on hope alone.

Many of the children served by Thank God and Do Good live in communities marked by poverty and hardship. Yet every week they gather to learn about God, pray together, and dream of a brighter future.

Most have never owned a Bible.

Through this project, 500 children and youth will receive a New Living Translation: Africa Edition Bible, giving them access to God's Word in a language and context they can understand.

One Bible can help a child discover hope. One Bible can help shape a future leader. One Bible can change a life.
