We're taking our 🌱Houseplant Bar🌱 on the road tomorrow for a corporate event, so I'll be opening the shop late.

Looking for something fun for your office to do? Or an activity for a gathering with friends? We offer workshops and activities in our workshop area for groups of up to 12. For larger groups, we can come to you!

If you love bonsai vibes, you'll adore this Ficus microcarpa. Its thick, twisted trunk evokes the gnarled character of trees that have weathered decades in the wild, giving it an instant sense of age and presence despite its compact size. Glossy, dark green leaves cluster along the branches, adding a lush contrast to the sculptural trunk below.

This is a wonderfully low-maintenance variety, forgiving enough for beginners but full of character for seasoned bonsai enthusiasts too. Bright, indirect light is best. Water when the top half of the soil is dry.

Hoya Mounting Workshop

Learn about epiphytes and create your own living wall art from live edge cedar boards and a hoya.

Taught by Lindsey Werhane, creator of Planty Persona, an in-home small business specialist in mounting houseplants to create a unique wall display.

My first floral design job was at Rick Orr Florist, while I was studying horticulture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During the four years I worked there, I learned so much from Rick and his business partner, Geraldine. That experience sent me on the (somewhat circuitous) entrepreneurial path to starting Pollen and then Rooted Living.

Rick was ahead of the floral design trends, using clear glass vases while most florists were still arranging in smiley face mugs. His perspective shaped the direction my own floral design would take, leading me toward a more naturalistic style.

l'm headed down to Champaign to pay my respects to Rick and reconnect with folks from my time there.

Saturday, June 13. 💮 Floral Donation Workshop 💮
On Saturday morning, I'll provide a quick floral design lesson, then we'll take apart the arrangements from Friday's event to make smaller arrangements to take to the residents of an assisted living facility.

Meet the new chickens! Have a preview of our very-popular ginger basil lemonade for the Logandale Lemonade Crawl (booze optional).
