We're honored to welcome Ron Weil to The Selfhelp Home Board of Directors!
Ron's connection to Selfhelp runs deep: he is the son of Selfhelp founders Dr. Rolf and Leni Weil. A retired VP and Account Executive at 3D Exhibits, where he helped design, build, and manage custom trade show exhibits, Ron has lent his talents to the design of our upcoming Heritage Corridor installation. Many of you heard him speak so movingly at this year's gala. Ron will serve on our Development Committee.
Founded in 1938 by German-Jewish immigrants to provide a home for refugees fleeing N**i Europe, The Selfhelp Home is a not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. Today we offer a full continuum of care on one campus, including independent living, assisted living, and a Medicare-certified skilled nursing facility.
Welcome back home, Ron! We're grateful to carry your family's legacy forward together.

Congratulations to Isabella "Bella" Miller, who has just stepped into her new role as Director of Resident Services here at The Selfhelp Home! ๐
Bella first joined our team in 2025 as a licensed social worker with specialized training in gerontology and dementia care. Over the past year, she has supported residents on our healthcare floors as Social Services Assistant, and we're thrilled to see her take this next step.
Her path to Selfhelp was built with purpose. After earning her undergraduate degree in psychology from Ohio State University, Bella went on to receive her MSW from the University of Pittsburgh. Along the way, she took part in a gerontology scholarship program and completed internships at a transitional housing program for older adults and a skilled nursing facility.
Outside of work, you'll find Bella crafting, baking, spending time with family and friends, or FaceTiming her dog, Juno.
Bella says it best: "The Selfhelp Home is unique for many reasons, but I especially appreciate the smaller size of the facility. It allows staff to really connect with residents and their families. The best part of my job is getting to spend quality time with the people that live here!"
Congratulations, Bella, and thank you for the compassion and dedication you bring to our community every day! ๐

Remember when?
Last year, Syrian-British pianist Riyad Nicolas joined us all the way from London for a beautiful program featuring Bach, Beethoven, and works by Syrian composers. A truly memorable performance.
