In the coming months, The Chicago Community Trust will work together with our partners to reimagine chicago.com as a philanthropic resource for Chicago—celebrating and supporting our vibrant local communities. Social media gives us many ways to communicate with people. But between the algorithms that are designed to keep us scrolling, the endless focus on negativity and the constant advertisements, how often does it actually help us get to know the people around us?
We believe that Chicagoland deserves an online space that is different…
Introducing chicago.com communities: free, local spaces to meet your neighbors, ask questions and discover what's happening close to home–moderated by a real-life, locally-rooted steward to keep the conversation positive and flowing.
On chicago.com you can find a local event, get a tip from someone down the block and make a connection with someone new. Then log off and live your life (no doomscrolling here!).
We’re starting with five pilot communities in Avondale, Bronzeville, Edgewater & Andersonville, Evanston and South Shore with local stewards helping to keep the space welcoming.
If you live in one of these communities, join the party! And if you’re not, you can join the waitlist. Happy connecting!

Windows down. Music blasting. Lake Shore Drive on a warm summer night...
Sometimes the best parts of Chicago aren’t an event or a destination, they’re the moments that make you stop and appreciate the city you call home.
Chicago.com is coming this fall, celebrating the people, places and experiences that make Chicago, Chicago.
Being a Chicagoan means knowing the things nobody has to explain.

We’re in the news!
Nieman Lab took a closer look at what we’re building with Chicago.com and our partnership with New_ Public and Roundabout. We’re creating a new kind of digital community space designed to help Chicagoans connect with their neighborhoods, find useful local information and build stronger connections with one another.
This fall, we’ll begin with five neighborhood communities. We’re excited to keep building, experimenting and imagining what a truly Chicago centered digital community can look like.

Big news for chicago.com
This fall, Chicago.com is teaming up with Roundabout to make it easier for Chicagoans to connect.
Our goal is simple: create online spaces where Chicagoans can share useful information, meet their neighbors, and have real conversations without all the noise that comes with traditional social media.
It’s one more way we’re building chicago.com to be a place you can actually use every day to discover, discuss, and enjoy your city.
What makes a Chicago summer special? For Matthew, it’s the festivals.
From Jazz Fest and Blues Fest to neighborhood celebrations across the city, Chicago’s festivals bring people together, even when the music, food or culture is completely new to them.
This fall, chicago.com will help you discover more of the people, places and experiences that make this city unlike anywhere else.
