UIC Biomedical Visualization

Last Monday, BVIS students and alumni shared completed and ongoing research as part of the Journal of Biocommunication’s first-ever short presentation program. Thank you to the JBC for creating a space to exchange ideas, invite conversation, and connect across the field!

We’re seeking professionals in biomedical visualization to share their work as part of our upcoming Frank Armitage Lecture, held virtually in March of 2027!

Whether your work introduces fresh perspectives or expands the scope of biomedical visualization, we invite you to share your perspective with an audience of aspiring and established biomedical visualizers. Selected speakers will give a 45–50 minute presentation, followed by time for Q&A.

Another memorable Association of Medical Illustrators conference in the books! We’re looking back on a wonderful week in Madison, Wisconsin, filled with plenty to celebrate across the medical illustration community. A huge congratulations to all recognized for their incredible contributions to the field through their inspiring work, leadership, and/or service.

Of course, our annual BVIS alumni and friends dinner was another highlight where we had the chance to reconnect with friends, colleagues, and alumni across the field! Looking forward to another great conference next year!

At the start of summer, BVIS faculty and alumni joined the second annual CAIDF Hackathon, funded by ARPA-H. During the two-day competition, held May 29-30, teams collaborated to explore healthcare datasets and advance scientific discovery. Congratulations to all winners and those involved for their outstanding contributions and commitment to innovation!
