Languages are more than a tool for communication – they are bridges that connect different perspectives, cultures, and communities.

Today, on the European Day of Languages, we highlight the importance of language in cultural exchange. Beneath the surface of communication lies deeper understandings of traditions, global affairs, and cultural practices, which can only be understood through connection.

Through exchange, relationships that transcend borders can foster a more connected world.

🌎 What is citizen diplomacy?

It's the simple idea that people, not just governments, help build international understanding.

Every time Chicagoans connect with visitors from around the world, share ideas, and learn from different perspectives, they help create stronger global relationships and stronger local communities.
That's citizen diplomacy in action.
