🌼 COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER DAY IN OUR GARDEN 🌱🌱🌱

Roll up your sleeves and join us this Tuesday, July 28 from 9 AM–1 PM as we come together to restore Marshall High School Farm on the West Side. The site is where our interns have been working hard this summer and where so many One For One journeys have begun.

We’re grateful for our partnership with Walk On, Ears Up Leadership, and Cindy Schwarz, where our interns have the opportunity to experience the power of equine therapy as part of their journey at One For One Chicago. 🐴 Through these meaningful sessions, they’re building confidence, strengthening trust, and developing self-awareness that will serve them both on the job and in life.

Happy Birthday, Chidray! 🎉

Some people lead from the front. Others lead through service. Chidray does both.

Every day, she shows up with a servant’s heart, making sure our young people, staff, and volunteers are fed, cared for, and welcomed. From preparing lunches to handling countless details behind the scenes, she does it all with generosity, consistency, and love. She never asks for recognition, but she deserves it.

Chidray reminds us that building community isn’t just about the big moments. It’s about showing up day after day, making sure people feel seen, valued, and cared for.

We’re also grateful that her heart for serving has extended to her family. As Demario’s mom, she’s helped shape the kind of leader who gives back to our community as well.

Thank you, Chidray, for going above and beyond every single day. We hope this year brings you the same joy, kindness, and love that you pour into everyone around you.

This week, our interns took a break from the scorching summer temperatures to put their artistic talents to work, each creating hand-painted signs for the Marshall Farm community garden. Each sign adds a personal touch while helping catalog the incredible fruits, vegetables, and herbs now growing throughout the space.
From preparing the garden beds to drafting the garden map, and now creating the finishing touches, our interns have played an important role in bringing this garden to life. We’re excited to watch both the garden and the impact it has on our community continue to grow.💚
