At the end of the day we are a charitable event which gives back to needy Chicago communities. We lay claim to being “Probably the World's Largest Mobile Food Drive”. Our philanthropic efforts help address urban food and hunger challenges by partnering with organizations that provide immediate hunger relief (food pantries, etc), and sustainable food empowerment through urban farming and education. More than $100,000 and 100,000 pounds of food raised to feed Chicago's hungry.

When federal safety nets shift, grassroots communities step up!
Earlier this year, changes and reductions to SNAP benefits hit Chicago families hard. For many, monthly food assistance now runs out by week two or three. For our local food ecosystem, it meant a sudden, massive surge in demand.
At CHIditarod, we know that hunger doesn't wait. Thanks to the incredible fundraising efforts of our racers, volunteers, and donors, we were able to mobilize rapid-response emergency grants to inject critical funding directly into the community.
