Our mission is to organize Korean and Asian Americans to achieve social, economic, and racial justice.
The National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC) is a grassroots organization founded in 1994 by local community centers to project a progressive voice and promote the full participation of Korean and Asian Americans within the social justice movement. Currently, the NAKASEC Network includes our local Affiliates located in Annandale, VA (NAKASEC VA), Chicago (HANA Center), New York (MinKwon Center), and Montgomery County, PA (Woori Center).

As part of our Livable Life campaign, we are launching a nationwide art competition! 🎨
There are judges! 👩🏻⚖️🧑🏽⚖️ Prizes! 💵 And a chance to have your art showcased at our local affiliates! Open to ages 5 and up, everyone is encouraged to submit.
As we face rising costs of living, we are asking folks: “What does ‘a livable life’ mean to you?”

TPS began in 1990 and was created for individuals whose home countries are too unsafe for them to return to — whether because of war, natural disaster, or acute crisis.
Today, the Supreme Court gave the administration a green light to end the program — and said they didn’t have the power to check the executive. (Um, what?)
This ruling is devastating for our entire country. From the individual TPS holders to their spouses and children, to their friends, neighbors, and communities — we are all harmed by today’s decision.
We must be clear that this is part of a larger, coordinated effort to redesign the United States as a country only for a select few. The U.S. has never had a problem stealing our labor, our taxes, our wisdom and expertise, or our bodies — but they continue to play politics with us.
We are not temporary.
Our lives are not temporary.
It’s time to pass a pathway to citizenship for all NOW.
Follow and donate to organizations like Haitian Bridge Alliance who has been leading in the fight to protect TPS, CUSP, UndocuBlack Network, and We Are CASA. The fight continues and we know that — as always — we keep each other safe. ❤️✊🏽
DACA delays are more than paperwork — they can put jobs, stability, and peace of mind at risk.
NAKASEC Co-Director Jung Woo shares his experience of nearly losing his job because of a delayed renewal and the uncertainty and fear that comes with waiting.
If you’re currently experiencing DACA delays, know that you’re not alone. Many in our community understand firsthand the stress, fear, and frustration of having your future put on hold because of processing delays or exclusionary policies.
Take care of yourself, stay connected to your local immigrant community, and reach out to trusted organizations for support. Sometimes the best thing we can do is lean on people who understand what we’re going through. We’ve faced uncertainty before, and we’ll get through this together. 💜

Juneteenth - June 19, 1865—the day enslaved Black people in Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
Freedom delayed is freedom denied.
For over 150 years, Black communities have celebrated Juneteenth as a day of liberation, resilience, and joy. Yet it wasn’t recognized as a federal holiday until 2021.
As Asian Americans, learning Black history helps us better understand American history. The struggles for Black freedom and civil rights have shaped the country we live in today and continue to influence movements for justice across communities.
Juneteenth is a celebration of Black freedom and a reminder that our liberation is connected.
Today, we honor the generations who fought for freedom, celebrate Black joy, and recommit ourselves to building a future where everyone can live with dignity and thrive.

How many hours do you have to work just to afford basic clothing when you’re cold?
At California’s minimum wage, a basic T-shirt can cost 2–3 hours of work. A pack of socks cost more than an hour of work. A hoodie can cost full day’s wages!
People are working hard, but the cost of living keeps rising faster than paychecks.
