Chicago Tourist Destination. Sideshow Gallery is a one-of-a-kind Chicago art gallery, event space, and curiosity shop. Open since 2014, it has made its home at 2219 North Western Avenue a welcoming space for all. Influenced by the strange, unusual, and occult, owners Anne Elliott (tarot reader, “the Demon Cleaner”) and Cheri Gutierrez (owner, Revolution Tattoo) represent artists from all over the world. Taking inspiration from the fringe world of the “circus sideshow,” the duo’s interests take on life via Sideshow Gallery’s ambiance and merchandise. Sideshow has recently expanded it's space the upstairs to include a Tarot Room and Gallery Parlour for events. Classes, and Art shows take hints from the Occult, Psychedelia, Oddities, Astrology, Tarot, Horror, Witchcraft and anything obscure or unusual. All things Anne and Cheri love! Sideshow Gallery is ever-evolving, with themes and concepts rotating monthly within the space.

From the history of anti-vampire tools like garlic and wooden stakes to the rituals and beliefs that shaped the modern vampire, this workshop dives deep into the shadowy corners of folklore.
Students will be guided in creating their own vampire protection kit with curated selection of symbolic items. All materials provided!

Join Amalia, Sideshow Gallery’s manager and spiritual practitioner, on October 8th from 7–9PM for a very special evening workshop Memento Mori: Creating a Victorian Mourning Relic.
Students will explore the history of mourning jewelry, death symbolism, Victorian funeral traditions, and the visual aesthetics of grief. This workshop combines historical discussion, visual examples, and hands-on making; Students will examine the ways people across different cultures and time periods have used art and personal objects to remember, honor, and memorialize those they have lost.
For the hands-on portion of the workshop, students are invited to bring small personal items like photographs, letters, fabric, jewelry, or other meaningful objects connected to someone they are mourning. These materials will become part of a personal memento mori reliquary—a small memorial artwork created to preserve memory and honor a loved one.
Using shadow boxes, dried florals, vintage-inspired papers, scrapbook materials, found objects, ribbons, photographs, and other decorative elements, students will design and assemble their own three-dimensional memorial piece. The workshop will encourage participants to consider how color, texture, symbolism, composition, and personal artifacts can communicate memory, love, loss, and remembrance.
No previous artistic experience is necessary. This is a craft-based, reflective workshop focused on the creative process and the personal meaning behind the objects we choose to preserve. Students will leave with a unique handmade reliquary that serves as both a work of art and a tangible keepsake of someone or something they wish to remember.
All craft materials will be provided — students must bring the special personal items connected to the person that is being memorialized.
Our new window at Sideshow Gallery is an homage to the mysterious world of lucky & unlucky superstitions, blending charms with the theatrical allure of classic magic shows. 🎩🔮✨️
As we celebrate our 13th year, this display feels especially fitting... a little luck, a little mystery, and plenty of beautifully strange things.
Among the doll parts, insect specimens, wandering eyes, crooked limbs, and other peculiar treasures, we’ve created an ever evolving lifesize shadowy cabinet of curiosities where the beautiful meets the bizarre. 🦷🦋🦵👁✂️✨️

Looking for inspiration? We have several beautifully haunting books exploring the art and history of curiosity cabinets. We’ve even given our own curio cabinet a refresh, featuring gorgeous framed prints by Veneration of Light , animal skulls, unique antiques, and other beautifully bizarre finds.
