An intense nor’easter flooded communities along the Jersey Shore on Saturday, bringing with it strong winds and heavy rainfall.
Footage filmed by Gilligan Yacht Rock PA/Rose Simone shows a North Wildwood street inundated with floodwater. Local residents are seen wading through the deluge before two kayakers are visible paddling down the street.

An Irish police officer was captured holding his own in an informal nighttime badminton match with a civilian on a downtown Dublin street.
Footage recorded by Gerardo Martinez shows the member of An Garda Siochana – Ireland’s police service – hitting a shuttlecock back and forth with a man in civilian clothes while several spectators watch.
Speaking to Storyful, Martinez said (via machine translation), “The guards were having a good time with the public. The staff at the electronics store invited the guards to play a game with the rackets.”
“They accepted, and afterwards, they resumed their normal duties,” Martinez said.
Size in the animal kingdom doesn’t always mean you have the upper paw!
Footage captured by Elsa Hunter shows an otter sneaking a large salmon away from a seal in Vancouver, British Columbia.
“I heard something screaming when I was doing my Pilates so came onto my balcony and zoomed in,” she wrote on Instagram.
Speaking to Storyful, Hunter said it was early in the morning when she saw a seal “lurking in the water.”
“Shortly after, an otter popped out from the rocks holding a large salmon in its mouth.”
Hunter believes the otter had stolen the salmon from the seal and that was what was causing the noises she was hearing.
“The otter kept the salmon in its mouth and used its paws to swim and climb away from the seal. It was very exciting, engaging, this was real, raw nature happening right in front of me,” she told Storyful.

“While certainly worried about the flooding, I decided to make the best of a difficult situation,” Shaffer told Storyful. “The dog seemed to enjoy herself, and earned a big treat when we ‘docked’ at our front steps.”

A slow-moving, powerful storm crept along the coast of the U.S. Northeast on Saturday, producing high winds that caused power outages while whipping up big waves and heavy rains that created dangerous conditions.
The New York City Housing Authority said one of its employees was killed by a fallen tree in Brooklyn, as the storm pelted the city with rain and strong winds.
