It's so fun to begin to internalize McCoy's language and see where we go from there!
When studying lines from other instruments, sometimes we as guitarists can find the shapes on guitar to be uncomfortable - at first! But remember, stepping out of your comfort zone allows for growth.
I find this brilliant line from McCoy Tyner to be a bit of finger twister, but the more I play it, the more comfortable I become!

Soloing here on an original tune of mine, "Take a Second Look." I love the creativity these guys bring to every show. So looking forward to playing this one and many others tomorrow!

Learning and internalizing Wes Montgomery language!

Wes Montgomery's genius on display as he flows over his tune "Jingles," empahasizing different musical colors over the chord!
Each A section of "Jingles" starts with eight bars of E minor and Wes dives right in.
In the first half of this clip, he is playing a cool enclosure emphasing the 6th (C #). Then he shifts to a rhythmic figure which also brings out the 9th (F #) - always of course with tremendous feeling and always in the moment!
Having fun (missed notes and all!) soloing on Horace Silver's "Barbara," a nifty tune in 3/4 with some cool dominant 13b9 chords to stretch out on. And it's always a treat to play Chicago's historic Jazz Showcase! 79 years and counting!!
Inspiringly beautiful flow of ideas from the great Wes Montgomery. I love the look to his right as if to say, "did you hear that one?" Pure joy and grace
