Raul recently joined Meghan Harte of LISC Chicago and Stacie Young of Community Investment Corporation on their podcast, Built Different Chicago, to talk about what real investment in a neighborhood looks like, using our own Pilsen as the case study. He shared the story of a longtime resident who just paid off a home TRP helped her buy nearly 30 years ago, now worth four times what she paid, and talked through the difference between developers who complete a deal and leave and the ones who stay for decades.

The conversation is centered on everything we do here at TRP: building financial literacy, homeownership, and long-term community investment in Pilsen and beyond.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re spotlighting leaders in immigrant communities. Meet Kevin Amaro, a 2025 Colibrí Fellow. 🌟

Kevin’s journey with TRP began several years ago when he sought assistance as a lending client for homebuying. Over time, his relationship with TRP deepened as he referred newly arrived immigrant families to its immigration legal services. As a Program Supervisor at Illinois Workers in Action, he advocated for workers' and immigrants' rights.

Through the Colibrí Fellowship, Kevin is working toward becoming a partially DOJ-accredited representative, committed to fighting for the dignity and safety of immigrant families. 💪🏽✨

La trayectoria de Kevin con TRP comenzó hace varios años cuando solicitó asistencia como cliente de préstamos para la compra de una vivienda. Con el tiempo, su relación con TRP se fortaleció al recomendar a familias inmigrantes recién llegadas a sus servicios legales de inmigración. Como supervisor de programas en Illinois Workers in Action, abogó por los derechos de los trabajadores e inmigrantes.

For those detained during Operation Midway Blitz, release doesn’t mean freedom For many immigrants arrested and detained during Operation Midway Blitz, a release isn’t necessarily a new start. It is instead part of a long goodbye.

Strong communities are shaped by families passing down history and culture across generations. At the 55th Annual Mexican Independence Day Parade in Little Village on September 13, 2026, TRP was proud to march alongside organizations and community leaders committed to keeping joyful traditions like these alive. ❤️🇲🇽💚

Along 26th Street, thousands of paradegoers waved their flags high, repped their jerseys, and chanted "¡Viva México!" where we joined the celebration by sharing fans, candy, and tote bags with paradegoers. This is what building community and championing justice is all about: carving out space to celebrate culture and resilience despite the adversities our neighbors have faced.

We stay committed every day to advancing housing justice and supporting immigrants with care and dignity. In doing so, we aim to sustain the cultural vibrancy that makes our neighborhoods feel like home.

En el 55.º Desfile Anual del Día de la Independencia de México en Little Village, el 13 de septiembre de 2026, TRP se enorgulleció de marchar junto a organizaciones y líderes comunitarios comprometidos con mantener vivas tradiciones tan alegres como estas. ❤️🇲🇽💚

A lo largo de la calle 26, miles de asistentes al desfile ondearon sus banderas en alto, lucieron sus jerseys y corearon “¡Viva México!”, mientras nos uníamos a la celebración compartiendo abanicos, dulces y bolsas tote con las personas a lo largo del recorrido.

Esto es lo que significa construir comunidad y defender la justicia: crear espacios para celebrar la cultura y la resiliencia, a pesar de las adversidades que han enfrentado nuestros vecinos.

Todos los días seguimos comprometidos con avanzar la justicia de vivienda y apoyar a las personas inmigrantes con cuidado y dignidad. Al hacerlo, buscamos sostener la riqueza cultural que hace que nuestros vecindarios se sientan como hogar.
