Great night at the ballpark with and AJ Johnson watching a compelling contest: Yankees at White Sox with two contending teams!
The outcome boiled down to Chicago making a bunch of errors, base-running blunders, & free passes (walks).
Reminds me to do the little things, like that extra set, lax ball recovery, morning mobility, make my spares, or whatever it is. Do the stuff!
Dubsdread at Cog Hill did not disappoint!

A fun day with athletes, & was had by all! (Sorry but you were in Sweden ๐)
Offering a splendid challenge without being as punishing as I had thought. Donโt know why I waited 15 years to give this gem a tryโฆand as EJ said, โplaying this course WILL make you a better golfer!โ
Looking forward to the next time! ๐ค
Prone Swimmers & Prone Handcuffs
DO THESE to:
๐ CORRECT Forward Shoulder Posture
๐ ENHANCE Shoulder Mobility
๐ FORTIFY Upper Back Strength
๐ COMBAT โTech Neckโ
This simple to perform exercise is sneaky harder than you think! ๐คฉ
Bodyweight (BW) exercise requiring only a bench that focuses on neuromuscular control of your shoulder blades (scapula) which will pay enormous dividends on posture, shoulder stability, overhead function, & posterior chain activation! ๐ช
Try 8-10 reps, no load;
MINDFUL CONTROL.
3 sets
Frequency: Every other Day
Increment reps and isometric hold time (Time Under Tension) as you improve

How you respond shapes your recovery ๐ง ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
Appreciate the shout out here from PBA TOUR athlete Sean Lavery here at the World Series of Bowling (WSOB).
Looks like Seanโs approach and response yielded positive fruit, as he was able to overcome nagging injuries to earn a spot (alongside partner and BROTHER Anthony ๐คฉ) in the Championship Match in the Roth/Holman Doubles Event!
Congratulations and love your intensity & purpose! ๐

CURTSY LUNGE for
Dynamic Lower Body Stabilization
Great ๐๐ผ DYNAMIC COMPOUND EXERCISE requiring LITTLE TO NO EQUIPMENT
Load: Dumbbell, Kettlebell, Bowling Ball, or NOTHING (just Body Weight).
Symmetry: Can load BOTH HANDS, or purposely ASYMMETRIC, like pictured above which SIMULATES FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT in the sport of bowling ๐ณ.
Training ๐ฏ: CORE, HIPS, LEGS, Dynamic BALANCE, all of which are necessary for athletic performance!
Focus: Motor Control and Coordination; with Gaze Stabilization on your target line.
Technique:
๐ One foot firmly in front of you, move your curtsy leg back diagonally back and behind you.
๐ CORE ENGAGED with head and chest upright
๐ Maintain knee stable (not caving IN or OUT)
๐ Slowly lower your back knee until it is near the ground while under CONTROL
๐ Engage your GLUTES as you stand back up
Perform 6 quality reos on one leg, then 6 on the other leg, which equals one set.
3 sets in total.
Feel free to vary load type, placement, as well as isometric hold at end range of lunge position ๐๐ผ
Amleto Monacelli demonstrates great control and posture throughout this exercise designed to MAXIMIZE POWER GENERATION from your LOWER HALF! ๐ช๐ป
Drop a comment below ๐ to share your opinion of how Amletoโs doing on his non-dominant right leg? ๐ค
Congratulations EJ Tackett! ๐

Overcoming the Injury Cascade
The rigors of the PBA TOUR season will no doubt yield to overuse injuries. Whether itโs minor tweaks or moderate strains and sprains, no athlete is immune.
Engaging in consistent training comprised of:
โ
Mobility
โ
Activation
โ
Neuromuscular Control Drills
โ
Strengthening
โ
Power Development
โ
Recovery
can help mitigate the frequency, intensity, and debility from the demands of a long season (especially without any breaks!)
Early this season, Hall of Famer, Tommy Jones, Tommy Jones experienced a strain of his right hip flexor. Forging on, continued imposed demands caused an OVERUSE INJURY of his groin (ADDUCTOR MUSCLES) from COMPENSATING for a compromised hip flexor. Deeper into the season at the World Series of Bowling (WSOB), Tommy approached me seeking help with his HAMSTRINGS, as the lower kinetic chain continued to get overloaded.
We educated him about the complexity of his injuries and embarked on a program to address dysfunction and return him to his elite level of performance.
The video clip above ๐ does not show myofascial release & soft tissue mobility.
What is shown is using Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) to boost ACTIVATION of his compromised hamstring muscle group.
I am performing Manual Resisted Exercise (MRE) to provide graduated resistance efforts through this Range of Motion (ROM) to optimize return of normal muscle function.
The next clip shows Tommy lying on a softball (not seen) as he engages in Self Myofascial Release (SMR) with movement to help mobilize and decrease muscle tone & spasm throughout the front of his hip.
Subsequent clip shows the importance of using ISOMETRICS and SLOW ECCENTRICS with sliders to help fortify and best functionally STRENGTHEN his hamstrings. ๐ช
Tommy was issued a Home Exercise Program (HEP) so that he could proactively and independently advance same so that he could return to being at his best!
Appreciate the opportunity to work with such an elite athlete and humbled and growing through the experience. ๐
LOADED CARRIES are a phenomenal way to build FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH
Donโt let lack of โformalโ exercise equipment deter you from getting a great MOVEMENT PREP before you do โstuff!โ ๐ค
Loaded Carries come in many forms & varieties. While working with PBA Hall of Famer at the during the World Series of Bowling (WSOB), we were looking to find an efficient stimulus that would feed multiple birds with one crumb to achieve:
โญ๏ธ Core Strength
โญ๏ธ Grip Strength
โญ๏ธ Postural Integrity
โญ๏ธ Balance
โญ๏ธ Coordination
โญ๏ธ Posterior Chain ACTIVATION
We opted for BACKWARDS TANDEM WALK LOADED CARRIES to accomplish that task. ๐๐๏ธ๐ช ๐ง
Though in the traditional strength training sense, we would urge using a heavier load to optimize STRENGTHENING efforts, a 15 # bowling ball in each was accessible, simple, and appropriate for the goal of MOVEMENT PREP or ACTIVATION.
Though many variations exist (Farmerโs Walk, Suitcase Carry, Crosswalk Carry, Waiterโs Carry, Bear Hug Carry, etc), the important mindfulness tenets are outlined below. ๐
Key Points of Performance
The Setup & Pick-Up
* Safe Stance: Treat the lift-off like a deadlift. Position your feet shoulder-width apart, hinge at the hips, and squat down with a flat back.
* Neutral Spine: Grip the handles firmly, look straight ahead, and avoid rounding your lower back when standing up.
Stride Mechanics
* Short, Quick Steps: Instead of long, lumbering strides, take small, compact, and quick steps. This keeps your center of gravity stable.
* Smooth Gait: Walk as though you are balancing a cup of water on your head. Avoid bouncing or jerking your body to generate momentum.
* Footwork: Plant your foot fully on the ground with each step to absorb impact and maintain torque.
5. Breathing
* Rhythmic Breath: Avoid holding your breath. Take steady, deep breaths into your belly to maintain intra-abdominal pressure without passing out.
