FIRE Battalion had the opportunity to welcome back 1LT Joseph Kim, a former FIRE BN cadet and S3, to speak with our cadets about his journey from ROTC to becoming an Army officer.

1LT Kim shared his experiences, challenges, lessons learned, and advice on what it takes to lead Soldiers as a young officer.

On September 19, our Fire Battalion Color Guard supported Humane Indiana’s Paws in the Park in Munster, Indiana, proudly presenting the colors and representing our battalion in the community.

Fire Battalion reaches beyond Chicago, bringing together cadets from Indiana University Northwest, Purdue University Northwest, and our partner schools across the region.

Delta Company officially kicked off the academic year with Cadet Orientation!

Cadets had the opportunity to meet their new Cadre and Cadet Company leadership, learn about expectations for the year, and make sure they are prepared for the semester ahead. Dr. Odom also provided an important brief on ArmyIgnitED and Cadet Payment Request (CPR) fees.

Throughout the day, cadets completed several administrative requirements, including reviewing and updating important forms, initial counselings, height and waist measurements, and health requirements.

Cadet Orientation was a productive start to the year and gave everyone a chance to get organized, meet their leadership, and prepare for the training ahead.

Delta Company is ready for another year of learning, training, and developing future Army officers. 🇺🇸

Today, our FIRE BN cadets had the opportunity to visit Roosevelt High School and speak with students about Army ROTC and the opportunities available through the program, including scholarships and the Illinois State Tuition Waiver (ISTW).

CDTs Seraphin, Levchenko, and S***a ( Mr T as well) did a fantastic job representing the battalion, sharing their experiences, and answering questions from students.

This was a great opportunity to connect with future leaders and continue building relationships with our local high schools.

Fire Battalion cadets volunteered at a Back-to-School Community Event, supporting the Esprit De Corps Foundation and helping local students and families prepare for the school year.

Our cadets worked alongside veterans, service members, and community organizations while giving back to the Chicago community.

This Saturday, our Fire Battalion cadets volunteered at Run Mag Mile, helping support runners and keep the event moving throughout the day.

It was a great opportunity to give back to the Chicago community, work as a team, and cheer on everyone crossing that finish line! 💪🏃‍♂️

Our Ranger Challenge Team has been training hard since the start of the school year, and they’ve been crushing it! 💪

CDT Donnelly’s Experience

This summer, CDT Donnelly attended H2F School at Fort Benning, where she learned about the Army’s new approach to health and fitness. During the course, she learned how to build and program workouts to achieve the best results for specific fitness goals.

CDT Donnelly also gained a better understanding of overall fitness and learned ways to help individuals who may have little or no fitness experience.

She had a great experience at H2F School and had the opportunity to meet cadets from other ROTC programs. By sharing ideas and learning how other programs approach fitness, CDT Donnelly brought back new ideas that can be implemented at UIC and within Fire Battalion.

CDT Jarzabek & CDT Grewal’s Experience

This summer, CDT Kevin Jarzabek and CDT William Grewal attended Cadet Field Training (CFT) at West Point. Throughout the training, they strengthened their leadership, teamwork, and tactical skills while working alongside cadets from across the country.

CFT gave both cadets valuable experience in a challenging training environment and new skills they can bring back to Fire Battalion as they continue developing as future Army officers.
