the trifecta of sitting on the dental chair:
(1) making a joke about which chair
(2) asking to take shoes off
(3) getting on the chair like a horse

Vaccine floss?! 🦷💉 Let’s talk about what this actually means!

So, researchers are exploring whether specially designed dental floss could one day be used to deliver vaccines or other medications through the tissues between the teeth and gums. And NO—it does not mean your dentist is putting vaccines in your regular floss or secretly vaccinating you during your dental cleaning!

This is still early research, and human clinical trials and regulatory approval would be needed before this could become an actual vaccine option. The goal? Potentially creating another needle-free way to deliver certain medications for people who are afraid of needles.

And yes… that was MY mouth in the news segment! 😂 Apparently my flossing video made the news, and I didn’t even know it until you guys started DMing me!

You all keep sending me the viral “cavity-reversing” chewing gum… so let’s talk about it 👀🦷

Can sugar-free gum actually be GOOD for your teeth? YES.

Chewing sugar-free gum stimulates saliva production, which helps neutralize acids in your mouth and supports the natural remineralization process. And if it contains xylitol, there’s additional evidence that it may help reduce cavity risk.

BUT…
That does NOT mean gum can magically reverse an existing cavity.

Lots of these videos are claiming nano-hydroxyapatite (nHA) is reversing cavities. Although it’s an interesting ingredient with research behind it… the presence of an ingredient alone doesn’t prove that a specific product can prevent or reverse cavities.

So:
🦷 Sugar-free gum = can be helpful
🦷 Xylitol gum = a great sugar-free option
🦷 Gum with nHA = interesting, but not enough evidence to claim it reverses cavities
🦷 Existing cavity = please see your dentist

Sugar-free gum can be a great ADDITION to your oral hygiene routine (chewing after meals)… but it’s not a replacement for brushing, cleaning between your teeth (aka flossing), or your routine dental visits.
