Here's my story:
I started playing guitar when I found my dad's in a closet and wanted to try something new before I got to high school. I wanted to learn guitar so I could learn how to accompany myself while singing, so learning chords was important to me. I got involved in my school's guitar ensemble in my junior and senior year of high school. We became known as Finally Decided. We were technically a blues band, but we did a lot of covers of popular songs. When the band learned of my songwriting abilities, we got to work on arranging a few of my originals for a rock band. This was such a valuable experience because it allowed for me to direct the band while growing off of the other band members' talents and energy. We went on to win the local Battle of the Bands competition. Once I went to college, the band disintegrated. I continue to write original songs and perform wherever I can. I am currently recording my own solo projects with equipment that I invested in.
