French house music producer etienne de Crecy the man behind Super Discount and 1/2 of Motorbass stopped in the shop yesterday to hang and dig for records.
Chicago native returns with his first vinyl release in 2 years with the No Boundaries EP. His debut record for Dutch imprint hits the ground running with opener ‘H20’, piercing stab sounds and a jacking groove lay soulful vocal samples, before paying tribute to late 80s Mr Fingers records on the spaced out The Boundary?’. Flip-side opener ‘The Rhythm’ brings the heavy bass and that classic Chi-town swing, punctured by jazzy synth riffs, while closer ‘Ecstatic’ is a synth-out deep house cut with big melodies and harmonies that raise the energy for any dance floor.

We’ve been pricing up some used collections over the last week and these + more will be hitting our bins and our Discogs store over the next week. Some really excellent Chicago stuff, classic 90’s acid and hard hitting house and techno records.

Ok it’s been a second since we’ve done a new episode of Chicago Club History. We’ve been meaning to do a video about Neo for a while, there’s a decent amount of footage out there so narrowing it down is hard but we love this raw video of the crowd losing it to Stigmata by Ministry circa 99. Neo was Chicago’s first alternative (goth, industrial, punk, new wave) nightclub, located in Lincoln Park (oh how the neighborhood has changed). Like Medusas and Berlin, Neo attracted freaks of all sorts through its entrance via the alley. An integral part of Chicago’s industrial nightlife scene.
