If any of you have been curious to try Dungeons & Dragons, but haven’t had a chance or knew where to start (like us), we’ve got a little something special lined up to help. Thanks to a friend and neighbor who has offered to share their time and talent with us by curating a brief intro adventure for those curious to build community and give D&D a try!

Sunday, September 20th
1st session starts at 1pm
2nd session starts at 2pm

Each will each take about 30-45 min. There is space for up to six participants per session. The sessions are the same, so plan to join only one. We’ll be learning by playing- no previous experience necessary! You can join solo or bring a friend or two- mixing and meeting new folks is part of the magic 🤓

If you want to be one of the 12 lucky folks who get a chance to play, come through early and sign up in person at the shop. Games will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Back-to-school sniffles finally caught up to me. We won't be opening today so I can rest and recover. I'll be seeing just how much ginger and lemon tea I can actually handle and sleeping my way through this one.

Hopefully I can be back in the shop to see y'all tomorrow 😷.

Happy Star Trek Day from your friendly neighborhood bookseller!

You can thank a steady childhood diet of Star Trek (and Reading Rainbow) for a lot of what drives this shop, as evidenced by the first image. A world where people are able to live and explore the wonders around us in a post-scarcity, multi-racial society where folks are able to freely access shelter, food, and medical care? We’re here for it.

We try to keep accessible mass markets straight out of the 20th century available for folks (📸 2-3). We are regularly refreshing our”Star Trek and Current Events” shelf with new titles (and so we can counterbalance some of the current events with a little sci-fi optimism, 📸 4). We’ve even been able to meet fellow fans and neighbors who have stopped in the shop and helped add to the decorations (Trek-orations?) over the past nearly two years (📸 5).

We do also carry lots of non-Trek books with a focus on Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander authors too, obviously. Stop in today and you might even get a free 🖖 Live long and prosper with any purchase 🤓😂

We're prepping the way toward spooky season and celebrating a newly-released Indigenous horror anthology with September's Hey Neighbor! Book Club. This month we'll be reading Never Whistle at Night, Part II: Back for Blood! It even includes a story written by Jim Terry who came to share space and story with us earlier this year 👏
