Once your cat builds a positive association with the clippers, nail trims become much easier.
Use the 6 steps in this video to help your cat actually enjoy their nail trims!
1. Get them used to you touching their paws and pair it with a high-value treat. (Do this a few times a day.)
2. Gently press their paw pads to expose the nails, then give them a treat. (Do this a few times a day.)
3. Let them investigate the clippers and reward them for sniffing or checking them out.
4. Bring the clippers up to their paws, give them a treat, then stop. (Do this several times a day.)
5. Try clipping one nail and STOP. Reward them when they cooperate.
6. Work up to clipping a few at a time. NEVER clip them all at once until they're completely comfortable.
If your cat has a bad reaction at any point, go back to the last step they were comfortable with and don't rush moving forward. Always take it slow.
Save this for the next nail trim!
Every dog owner has stood in their kitchen saying "no, no, NO" while their dog does the exact thing they're being told not to do. It's one of the most frustrating parts of living with a dog, and it feels like they're doing it on purpose.
They're not. Your dog just doesn't have the information yet. "No" tells them to stop for a second. It never tells them what you'd rather they do, so the second your back is turned, they're right back at it.
The dogs who seem to "get it" aren't smarter or better behaved. Someone took the time to show them what they're supposed to do instead, and properly rewarded them for doing it. Any dog can learn this.
If there's a behavior you've been trying to "no" your way out of for months, let's talk. That's what a discovery call is for.

Resource guarding is a completely normal and treatable dog behavior
Your dog is not broken or aggressive, but it can be dangerous if it is directed towards people.
