Photo: NEIU was chosen as the site for the historically significant Commission on the Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians (CWRIC) hearings that took place on September 22-23, 1981. Honoring Ronald Williams, NEIU President from 1976–1985, fearless advocate in the Free South Africa Movement, and a champion for justice and education. The NEIU Library proudly bears his name, and October 10 is officially recognized as Ronald Williams Day in the City of Chicago.
