We’re excited to welcome a new Executive Chef to North Pond—though you may already know him. After serving as our Chef de Cuisine, Chef John C. Brandon is stepping into his new role as Executive Chef. His dedication, creativity, and passion for the North Pond kitchen have been an integral part of our restaurant, and we’re thrilled to see him take the next step in his culinary journey with us.

Born and raised in Alexandria, VA, he moved to Greenville, NC, in 2005 for college (Go Pirates!) and began working in the hospitality industry. It wasn’t long before he fell in love with kitchens and cooking, eventually moving to Charlotte to attend Johnson & Wales University. After culinary school, he worked at The Summit Room and Packhouse, where he spent three years as Executive Chef. He then returned to Greenville to join Chef & the Farmer, working his way from butcher to Sous Chef to Chef de Cuisine.

In 2020, he made the move to Chicago and joined the team at North Pond a few months later. For the next five years, he worked alongside Cesar as Chef de Cuisine— and now he’s stepping into his next chapter as North Pond’s Executive Chef.

Outside of the kitchen, he enjoys spending time with his loving girlfriend, his gremlin of a dog, and taking long walks through the park while listening to Appalachian folk rock.
