25 years later, September 11th still feels impossible to put into words.
I remember watching the towers fall from my office and feeling like the world had suddenly changed. The days that followed were filled with fear, heartbreak, uncertainty, and loss.
For those of us living in New York, it wasn’t something that simply ended when the day was over. It stayed with us for weeks, months, and years.
But I also remember the way New Yorkers came together. We looked out for one another. We shared grief, fear, laughter, and hope. In a city of millions, somehow we felt like one.
Even today, when I meet someone who was in New York on 9/11, there is an immediate connection. Nothing needs to be explained. We simply understand.
25 years later, I remember those we lost, the families forever changed, and the strength and unity that carried us through.
