Thanks again to Sabrina Rose Sabella for letting me use her likeness from her Grotesque Burlesque session 🖤 go check out her work!

After hanging for a long time in Wayward Arts (first for the Spooky Show, and then in a few subsequent shows over the lifespan of the gallery), I wondered if Oracle #1 would remain in obscurity until it eventually showed (or remained in my collection forever, which I wouldn’t be the least bit upset about)

And then, out of the blue - an invite to show at SLAC ‘s Magnum Opus show! Considering the 7 year old work-in-progress span, I knew this qualified (so far) as my Magnum Opus.

The opening is Friday, 8/7 at Studio 659 in Whiting, IN (for non-locals or Chicagoans, quite literally over the border east of Chicago, beneath the smog and steel of the mills). Thanks again to SLAC and DAVE for the invite :D

Until Friday, enjoy this piece throughout the years, from glimpses of my very early college “studio” (AKA, my dad’s basement) to completion and display in 2023 🌘

I’ll be back at Highland this Sunday 4/19 from 1p-5p for their flea market, where I’ll be selling my wares.

To emphasize this point, here are some women I’ve drawn donning various pieces (that I’ll ALSO have for sale). This is much cuter than me trying to put on every single piece of clothing and accessory at once (and less sweaty, it’s so humid).

Come grab a coffee, buy a skirt or some art, and yap with me for a few hours ☕️

I’ve long utilized the same October 2005 copy of Nakayoshi magazine I bought at Mitsuwa’s Arlington Heights location. It was brand new, and - unlike America’s Shonen and Shoujo Jumps - I loved that it came with a free gift (it was a stationary set with a retractable multi color ink pen and I LOVED IT). Usually pages found their way into paper mache projects, because it looked really cool. I also actually did some business cards on them (but of course, they were too fragile for that).

I’ve been diving into paper a lot the last few years and thinking around with reuse. I found my stash of old flimsy business cards, and decided to give it a go with artwork (specifically digital drawings I love to find unique ways of printing).

I’m having a lot of fun playing around with this, stay tuned 🙂‍↔️
