I gotta share this fun dessert auction idea for anyone involved in fundraising. I have done sooo many of these, and I’ve never seen it done this way except at this event, our 3rd year participating. Instead of the traditional sheet sign up where the highest bidder wins the dessert, the sign up is on each table, anyone or everyone at the table can add a donation amount they are willing to pay for dessert. ANY dessert, and they tally up the total per table. Our table had $1080. In total donations (we were 2nd overall) after all the sheets are collected table numbers are called out and they “dash” up and grab they’re favorite dessert, hoping the one they want is still there and take it to share with their table. Dessert dash brought in over $10,000. in donations, that’s an average of $500. per table, so no cake sold for less than that. Backstory, our son is the Executive Director of the Borland Free Clinic and this is their annual fundraising event. The auctioneer was amazing and great entertainment. Overall a wonderful evening … bonus got to hang out with our son and his family for a couple days. Here’s a short video of the chaos!
