🥕🌱 FREE THE FOOD STANDS — BUTTE COUNTY! 🌱🥕
Have extra produce from your garden? Share it! Need some fresh produce? Take some!
Our Free The Food Stands are a grassroots way for neighbors to share their garden abundance with the community. Drop off extra whole fruits and vegetables you’ve grown or gleaned, plant starts, or seeds—and help make sure good food gets eaten instead of going to waste. 💚
📍 Stands are located throughout Paradise, Magalia, Stirling City, Oroville, Gridley, and Chico.

A big thank you to 4imprint! ❤️
We are so grateful to 4imprint for supporting our Harvest of Demeter Farm to Table Dinner by sponsoring aprons for our team through their one by one® grant program!
These aprons will be worn by the volunteers and community members working behind the scenes to bring together an evening celebrating local food, local farmers, and the people who make our food system possible.
We also encourage our community to check out 4imprint when you need promotional items for your business, organization, school, or next event. Supporting businesses that give back to organizations like ours helps that generosity keep going.
Thank you, 4imprint, for investing in our work and helping make Harvest of
Demeter possible! 🌱❤️

🌻🎨 Gardens are a pretty great place to learn about art too!
This week we read Sunflower House and used sunflowers as a way to bring together gardening, literacy, and art.
Students also learned about Vincent van Gogh’s sunflower paintings and talked about how artists use different colors to create a mood or feeling. We looked at how warm, bright, dark, and contrasting colors can completely change the way a piece of art feels.
Then it was their turn! Students created their own colorful sunflowers, choosing colors and designs that expressed their own ideas and feelings. 🌻💛💜💙
The garden gives us so many opportunities to connect subjects that might not seem connected at first. Plants can teach us science, inspire stories, and even become art.

Bringin’ in the Bees was a success! 🐝🌼
A huge thank you to everyone who came out and helped us bring more life, color, and habitat to the Bumblebee Community Garden!
With lots of helping hands, we planted native and pollinator friendly plants, restored natural habitat, painted, and continued transforming this space into a place where both our community and native pollinators can thrive.
A special thank you to Chico State College Corps and their amazing students for showing up, getting their hands dirty, and helping us accomplish so much. We are incredibly grateful for the community members and volunteers who planted, painted, dug, cleaned, and helped bring this project to life.
This event also supported a Pollinator Stewardship Certification through Pollinator Partnership, combining community education with real habitat restoration right here in Paradise.
Together, we’re bringing in the bees and building a healthier habitat for our community. 🐝🌱🌻

Students at Paradise Achieve’s afterschool program and Chico Achieve’s middle school program have been learning about the different food groups and how the foods we eat fit into each one.
Through a hands on game, students worked together to sort different foods into their correct food groups, talk about what makes each group different, and learn why our bodies need a variety of foods.
Food education is about more than telling kids what is “healthy.” We want students to understand their food, recognize what they are eating, try new things, and build knowledge they can take home with them.
Another fun week of learning with GROWN! 🌱🍓🥕🥛
