Welcome to Shelled Friends - your source for healthy and well-established turtles and tortoises.
Gotta love friends who think of you when they see a certain species. Thanks Marc (The Turtle Source) and Clay (Clay Jacobs).
Turtle parkour, as demonstrated by a Reeves x Kwangtung hatchling.
The friendly neighborhood sulcata, Tiny, focused on crossing off pumpkin carving from his list. Tiny is a 22 year old young adult who came to us when he was a four month old (or so we were told) hatchling.

A yearling Razorback musk turtle that I hatched this past year. I'm not quite sure what we have here, but I have not seen one so light colored among any of the hatchlings I have hatched in the past.
Life is one long balancing act. Some of my musk turtle hatchlings at the Sacramento Reptile Show this weekend.

We advise that turtle keepers need to be patient folks, a lot. Then comes along a male like this Eastern Box Turtle that pushes the idea that being patient is overrated 🤦🏻‍♂️

Southern Painted turtles, one with a wider band that came from Marc Cantos and team at The Turtle Source (The Turtle Source ). I have heard Marc talk about these wide banded Southern Painteds but wasn't able to see the difference until I placed the animal next to another hatchling. Painted turtles rule!

Progress can be slow, include resets based on reevaluation, and sometimes even include a new direction. When it comes to animals in our care, it ultimately has to be for the great good of the species in question.
Model is a female Black marsh turtle (aka the smiling Terrapin and the panda turtle).
