🏖️ Back from vacation and it was a well needed getaway.

Why wrestling? We’ve known each other for almost a decade, and this year I’ve fully come to understand why it’s wrestling for him.

I’ve always connected wrestling to WWF(E), and could watch a couple matches but couldn’t really connect.

Wrestling is a sport that’s personal, for each young man. Yes, you’re in a team, and when you lose, it’s a let down for the team, but for a different reason other than just the loss itself. It’s watching you work hard to be your best, seeing where you went wrong and giving encouragement to help you win your next match, and being in support of your growth.

In this sport, you have standards that you can’t break or bend to from maintaining/dropping your weight, training and staying focused. You really have to work hard to be your personal best, and you are the only thing that holds you back. These guys have to have self discipline and be able to think quick in their feet. It’s really a sight to see the growth through the season.

We’re years in and I’ve seen how many young men have been impacted by this sport. The biggest takeaway is that you learn more from your losses than your wins.

I’ve seen some of these young men run off the mat, cry, and throw fits, but towards the end of every season, those young men learn how to cope with the losses, learn how to bounce back and come back stronger with a better strategy.

Some of these men may take this sport beyond high school, but all of them will leave off better at the end of every season.

I don’t know all of the moves, but I’m there for support and to watch them grow, and learn along the way. These kids may not biologically be mine, but I’ll play team mom in support 😉

I’m proud of my husband and happy to help him reach all of these students. He’s helping making these young men stronger and I can wait to see how God continues to use him. It’s not work, it’s ministry.
