Join us this Saturday, October 3rd, for the Northern Kentucky Meet the Candidates Ride to learn more about local candidates and advocate for bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in Northern Kentucky!
We’ve invited candidates running for all kinds of offices throughout Northern Kentucky to join us on a community bike ride to experience firsthand what infrastructure is working well and identify where safer, more connected facilities are still needed. Before we ride, candidates will have a few minutes to introduce themselves and share their vision for safer, more connected walking and bicycling in our region.
We'll meet at at noon, then head out on the ride together. The ride will be about 6-8 miles and no drop (no one gets left behind). Don’t have a bike? Cincy Red Bike has bikes available from nearby stations along Monmouth Street in Newport. Make sure to bring your own helmet!

Cincinnati is designing protected bike lanes and safer connections along Erie Avenue and Murray Road. This includes the possibility of turning the intersection of Murray and La Crosse Avenues into a four-way stop. With pedestrian, bike, and vehicular traffic intersecting at this point, a four-way stop will ensure that everyone can continue their journey safely and efficiently!
The City of Cincinnati DOTE is hosting a public open house on the project TONIGHT from 6-7:30PM at Eastside Rec. Center (3950 Paxton Avenue). Join us at the meeting to support the addition of this four-way stop!
If you can’t make it tonight, keep an eye out for an opportunity to give your feedback virtually! We’ll share that information here when it’s available.

We are so excited to have Carol Coletta join us as the keynote speaker for our 9th Biennial Trails Summit!
Carol Coletta has spent a lifetime focused on cities and their success. As a Bloomberg Public Innovation Fellow, she is exploring how public space can foster social connections at scale, particularly across demographic differences.
This year's keynote will pose the question: What happens when communities are willing to think boldly about their public spaces? Carol Coletta will challenge us to consider where our region has succeeded, where opportunities remain, and how trails and public spaces can help create a more connected, welcoming, and distinctive region.
Join leaders from all across the region working to shape Cincinnati's public realm at this year's Tri-State Trails summit! Make sure to register before this Friday (October 2nd) to take advantage of early bird prices. Learn more and register at tristatetrails.org

We'd love to see a big crowd out for the NKY Meet the Candidates Ride this Saturday!
Everyday people who walk and bike our streets are some of the best spokespeople for what’s working, what isn’t, and what would make it easier and safer to get around Northern Kentucky.
We’ll hear briefly from local candidates, then ride together through Newport and Covington along portions of the proposed NKY Urban Loop Trail. It’s a chance to show the people seeking to represent our communities just how many of us care about safer streets, better connections, and a more connected regional trail network.

For the first official post in our Why Trails Matter series, we’re sharing two reasons why trails and bike infrastructure are so important!
Trails and bike infrastructure make walking and biking more feasible modes of transportation. This means that everyone can get to where they need to go, whether they have a car or not.
This infrastructure isn’t there to take away the option to drive; it’s so everyone can have a safe way to get around the city. Examples like the Central Parkway protected bike lane show us how different modes of transportation can work alongside each other, moving people along in a variety of ways!
Expanding transportation options and increasing transportation equity are two reasons Tri-State Trails is focused on expanding the region’s trail and bikeway network. You can learn more about our work and how you can support it at https://tristatetrails.org/get-involved/.
Check back in the coming weeks for more reasons why trails matter!
