On Friday, 9/18 our Emergency Preparedness and Response team participated in CVG’s live drill designed to give CVG staff, local first responders, and area hospitals the opportunity to train together and strengthen our coordinated response to an emergency.
This was a huge collaborative effort! Thanks to the team from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport for making it happen. Read more here: https://www.wcpo.com/news/cvg/cvg-airport-hosts-full-scale-disaster-drill-with-more-than-700-first-responders

This week The Health Collaborative, Ohio Career Pathway Support Network - Southwest Region and Hamilton County ESC's Greater Cincinnati Business Advisory Council collaborated to host "Healthcare Pathways to a Purpose". This event brought educators, employers, and workforce partners together to explore healthcare career pathways, work-based learning, and successful school-industry partnerships. In addition to all those components, the event included an Employer Perspective panel featuring UC Health, The Christ Hospital Health Network, and Cincinnati Children's! We are grateful to our employers for lending their support and discussing with educators just what their students need to be set up for successful jobs within our medical community.
Also included was a Student Perspective Panel made up of amazing students currently or recently in work-based learning healthcare programs from Hughes High School, Reading Schools, Loveland High School, and a former student from Butler Tech now pursuing a pathway at Cincinnati State. These students shared powerful words on how local experiences at TriHealth, Mercy Health, Cincinnati Children's, and more have influenced their goals.
Thank you to all who lent their support and time to make this day meaningful. We hope every educator in the room found the event worthwhile and full of tangible action steps to help your students discover pathways to a healthcare career. Here's just a few photos from the day!

📌 This Friday, September 18:
🚨 CVG’s full-scale emergency exercise is happening this Friday, Sept. 18 🚨
If you’re traveling through or passing by the airport Friday morning, you may notice emergency vehicles, CVG staff, first responders, and actors participating in emergency response training.
Please do not be alarmed! There is no real emergency, and flights will continue as normal.
This exercise gives CVG staff, local first responders, and area hospitals the opportunity to train together and strengthen our coordinated response to an emergency.

Meet one of our new team members, Lauren Myers who joined us in July as our Workforce Innovation Coordinator.
Q: What are you currently working on?
A: There's a few things I'm excited to be working on right now, but one of the biggest is Ohio's Rural Health Transformation Program! Being part of a $10 million statewide initiative focused on improving healthcare access, outcomes and workforce development across Ohio's 73 non-urban counties is an exciting opportunity. I love being part of something bigger that can create meaningful change for communities across our state.
I'm also excited to work on the Ohio Healthcare Virtual Career Fair. It's a unique project that connects to something I'm passionate on: helping people learn about the many different opportunities available in healthcare. I think there's so much more to healthcare careers than what people typically think of, and we're helping show the possibilities.
Q: We know it's early, but do you have a favorite part of your job so far?
A: I love being part of something bigger that can make an impact. I've always been passionate about improving workflows and finding ways to make things work better. There's something really satisfying about taking an idea, or even a problem, and turning it into something that helps people.
That's what makes this work so exciting to me. I get to be part of improvement projects that can have a much bigger impact than any one person could make on their own.
Q: Help us get to know you! Any favorite activities outside of work?
A: Outside of work most of my time revolves around my family. My husband Garrett and I have been married for 14 years, and we have a daughter who just began high school. Between soccer and track, there's never an activity shortage! I also love my houseplants, our 3 dogs, and creative projects. I'm usually happiest when I'm making, creating or figuring out what's next.
Q: If you could travel anywhere, where to?
A: I'd love to explore more of Western United States. There's so much to see, and I love to explore new places that are different from home. A road trip with plenty of stops along the way sounds pretty perfect to me.
Welcome, Lauren!
