Digging Cincinnati History
Founded in 2011, Digging Cincinnati History shares stories of our city's past through buildings.
Digging Cincinnati History started off as a way for me to share my love of Cincinnati history on a blog. It has evolved into a consulting business, so that I can help others explore the history of their own property. If you are interested in having your property researched, please contact me.

When a โhouse of ill fameโ collapses, secrets spill out. The sort of secrets that embarrass the unclothed clientele, the cityโs building inspectors and the wealthy landlord.
Such was the case at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 3, 1877 when a very narrow building at 74 Longworth Street collapsed, killing four unfortunate souls. Longworth, a long-vanished Cincinnati street, once ran westward from Vine between Fifth and Sixth streets. https://ow.ly/13Is50ZPKy9

How do you conduct research for a book on q***r people who lived during a period when being q***r was illegal? You learn the lingoโoften hateful, usually vileโ of the times.
Jacob Hogue spent five years researching and writing "Cincinnati Before Stonewall: The Untold Q***r History of the Queen City" (Arcadia Publishing). He originally intended to start a podcast that would spotlight his friends, but as he began to research the project, he saw he had a larger story to tell.
Hogue is the history and legacies chair for Cincinnati Pride and the creator of Queen City Q***r History, an Instagram project that shares โuntold Cincinnati LGBTQ+ history.โ โAs I started to research the q***r history of Cincinnati, I realized nothing existed before the 1970s. Itโs like q***r people came out of nowhere.โ https://ow.ly/PJ3P50ZOGuc
