We have the tools to prevent and treat HIV. So what’s getting in the way?
Gay and bis*xual men continue to face barriers to HIV prevention, testing and care—including limited awareness, access, stigma and other challenges that can make it harder to get the care they need.
In the US, gay and bis*xual men account for 67% of new HIV diagnoses.
We know what can help: routine testing, PrEP, condoms and other prevention options, along with early diagnosis and effective treatment for people living with HIV.
The tools work. Now we need to make sure people can access them—without stigma, judgment or unnecessary barriers.

HIV shouldn’t stop being part of the conversation as we grow older.
Today, more than half of people living with HIV in the US are age 50 or older.
For people aging with HIV, health needs can change over time. Managing long-term treatment, other health conditions, mental health and the stigma that can come with HIV can all play a role in overall well-being.
At the same time, HIV testing and prevention conversations don’t always include older adults. That can mean missed opportunities for testing, diagnosis and treatment.
HIV prevention, testing and care are for every age. Talking openly about HIV and making testing and care accessible can help people live healthier lives at every stage.
Let’s keep the conversation going: caracole.org (link in bio)

Important News! Time to March!
We planned on releasing the flyer below today, but we didn’t expect the timing to be this perfect.
It was just announced that a federal appeals court has granted HUD’s request for a temporary stay on a lower court’s ruling. This decision temporarily pauses the order that struck down the 2026 Continuum of Care Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).
In plain language: while this legal battle continues, HUD is cleared to reissue its 2026 funding guidelines—harmful changes and all.
If fully implemented, these changes will:
•Trade stable, permanent housing for expensive temporary housing, causing a devastating net loss of homes.
•Replace compassionate, proven interventions with aggressive, forced compliance and increased policing.
•Push an estimated 100,000 people across the country back into homelessness.
While HUD’s next move is uncertain, ours is clear. We will do everything in our power to protect life-sustaining programming for Cincinnati and Hamilton County. We demand an immediate, permanent end to this attack on people who have experienced homelessness in the past, and on people who are without homes today.
It is the perfect time to march and rally our collective strength!

🧻 Toilet paper is one of those everyday essentials you don't think twice about—until you don't have it.
We’re looking for donations of TP to help keep our clients stocked with the basics. Right now, our supply is running dangerously low.
DYK: Essential items like toilet paper and toothpaste can’t be purchased with EBT or SNAP benefits—and with most of our clients living on less than $18K a year, these basics are often out of reach. That’s why we collect and distribute donations to help bridge the gap.
Help us restock: drop off TP at our Northside office or send it through our Amazon Wishlist: a.co/02N6V7pn
Every roll makes a difference.

Meaningful change happens when people come together to share ideas, challenge assumptions and build solutions.
That’s why we created Caraconference. In this time of uncertainty and change, opportunities to learn from one another and strengthen our collective HIV response matter more than ever.
We hope you'll be part of the conversation this October: caracole.org/event/caraconference-2026

Wait… you can put a condom in BEFORE s*x? 👀
Yep. Internal condoms, sometimes called female condoms, can be inserted up to 8 hours before s*x, giving you another option for safer s*x—and more control over when and how you use a condom.
They’re not talked about nearly enough, so we’re changing that.
Stop by Caracole to pick up free internal condoms and try an option you may not have considered before.
Because HIV and STI prevention looks different for everyone—and having options is a good thing.
Our bodies: where s*xuality, health, rights and justice are lived.
