πŸ”₯National fire prevention week is here!

Did you know working fire alarms cut the risk of dying in a reported house fire nearly in half? (NFPA, 2026)

Take a few minutes today to test your alarms, inspect home hazards, review your escape plan, and make sure your family knows two ways out of every room.

It is state exam time for this recruit class, and they are absolutely on fire.πŸ”₯

(Not literally, luckily... they've been trained for that. πŸ˜‰)

These future firefighters put their skills to the test, demonstrating proper hose management, radio communication, hose loading and unloading, and roof ventilation techniques.

Safe to say, the future of Colerain Fire & EMS is in good hands. πŸš’β€

A small change can prevent a big fall! And for Fall Prevention Month, we are here to remind you that we're here to help.

Bathrooms are one of the most commons places for serious falls to occur. That's why Colerain Fire & EMS, in partnership with AARP, offer free grab bar installation for eligible residents age 50+ and individuals with mobility challenges.

Grab bars provide:
βœ…Added stability getting in and out of the shower or tub
βœ…Extra support near toilets and other high-risk areas
βœ…Greater confidence and independence at home
βœ…Reduced risk of fall-related injuries

Preventing falls isn't just about avoiding injury. It's about helping our relatives and loved ones live safely and independently in their homes for longer.

πŸš’πŸ”₯ Happy Firefighter Friday! πŸ”₯πŸš’

This week we're featuring a firefighter who likes a little chaos in his life! With two kids (and a third on the way) and two dogs already running the house, we're pretty sure Gavyn Ripley has something against down time.

Thankfully, he always shows up to Station 102 to help take care of the rest of us!

Gavyn has served with Colerain Township for 3 years, after volunteering with the Village of Greenhills for 5 years and working on a Mobile Intensive Care Unit for 4 years.

Why firefighting and EMS?
"I fell in love with EMS and helping people get the care they deserve. This is the greatest career I've ever had, and I always strive to do my best for those who need us."

When he's off duty, Gavyn enjoys gaming with his wife and friends, hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family. Fun fact: Gavyn has played piano for 20 years!

Thank you, Gavyn, for your service, dedication to your family, and the positive impact you make on and off duty. We're proud to have you on the Colerain team! πŸš’β€οΈ

Welcome, Chief Will Mueller!

πŸš‘ September is Fall Prevention Month!

Did you know that falls are the leading cause of injury-related emergency room visits, hospital admissions, and deaths among adults age 65 and older?

In 2020 alone, our own 𝐂𝐨π₯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐒𝐧 π…π’π«πž & π„πŒπ’ 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝟏,πŸπŸ’πŸ 𝐟𝐚π₯π₯-𝐫𝐞π₯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐚π₯π₯𝐬, with approximately πŸ”πŸπŸ“ 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐚π₯π₯𝐬 π›πžπ’π§π  π©π«πžπ―πžπ§ππšπ›π₯𝐞.

Simple changes can make a big difference:
βœ…Remove tripping hazards like loose rugs and cords
βœ…Improve lighting throughout your home
βœ…Wear properly fitting, non-slip footwear
βœ…Stay active to improve strength and balance
βœ…Install safety devices such as grab bars and handrails

Our Fall Prevention Program provides residents with a personalized assessment to identify potential risks before a fall happens.

☎️ To schedule an in-home assessment, contact call (πŸ“πŸπŸ‘) πŸ—πŸπŸ‘-πŸ“πŸŽπŸπŸ“ or email 𝐟𝐚π₯π₯𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧@𝐜𝐨π₯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐒𝐧.𝐨𝐫𝐠.

Together, we can help keep our residents safe, independent, and on their feet.
