Just in case you were wondering... Fall is a great time to get started on exterior shades. Here's why:

First, this is prime outdoor-living weather in Cincinnati. Exterior shades can cut TV glare on outdoor game days, protect against wind, and make a covered patio or balcony feel more comfortable as temperatures cool.

Second, they can give you more usable space when you’re hosting. When friends are over for the game or family is gathering for dinner, enclosing a covered outdoor area with shades can make it feel like a natural extension of your home.

And finally, starting now puts you ahead of the rush for next spring and summer. Custom exterior shades take time to plan, fabricate, and install, so there’s a real advantage to getting the process underway before the first hot day sends everyone looking for the same solution.

We recently installed these Draper exterior shades at a downtown Cincinnati condo near the soccer stadium, where we’ve also had the opportunity to work on window treatments throughout the home.

Around here, patio season doesn’t end when summer does. Sometimes fall is when it really gets good.

Woven woods are one of those window treatments we never get tired of. They bring natural texture and warmth to a room, pair beautifully with custom drapery, and work with so many different design styles.

In this home, they’re part of a layered window treatment design that adds softness and function without competing with Bria’s vision for the space.

Fall may have us noticing all that warm texture a little more right now, but woven woods are a favorite at Apollo all year long. 🙌

Summer may be down to its last official weekend, but Cincinnati clearly didn’t get the memo. ☀️🌧️🦟

It’s still hot. It’s been rainy. And the mosquitoes? Very much still here.

The good news is, you don’t have to call it quits on the patio just because summer is winding down.

Exterior screen shades can make covered porches and patios more comfortable by giving you control over harsh sun, wind and rain, and helping keep unwanted bugs from joining you. Lower them when you need a little protection, raise them when you don’t, and get more use out of the outdoor space you love.

And while you’re still spending time outside, pay attention to what would make your patio better. Where does the sun hit? When are the bugs worst? What keeps sending you back inside?
