The Cincinnati Bengals placed WR Andrei Iosivas on the Reserve/Injured list, signed LB Joe Giles-Harris off the practice squad to the active roster, and elevated TE Tanner Hudson from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's game vs the Steelers.

43-year old Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander made the final start of his career this afternoon. His daughter Genevieve ran from the dugout to the mound to take her dad out of the game in the 6th inning at Tiger Stadium. A sellout crowd stood, cheered...and cried. One of the coolest scenes I've ever witnessed.

Last night, White Sox shortstop Colson Montgomery broke the MLB single season strikeout record with his 224th.

He passed former Arizona infielder Mark Reynolds, who set the mark in 2009.

Montgomery has closed the season with a flourish, striking out three times in seven different games this month. He is striking out 35.5% of the time this season.

The 24-year old is hitting .199 with 31 homers, 87 RBI, an OPS of .696, and WAR of 1.9.

Thursday night, Montgomery passed former White Sox slugger Adam Dunn (222) for the American League record.

Kyle Schwarber is currently at 218 strikeouts.
Zach Neto is at 217.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Steelers game preview, per NFL Communications:

The opening paragraph of this week’s story (The Athletic) about the Cincinnati Reds presented Nick Krall as the guy with the answers to Bob Castellini's yearly question of why the Reds aren't the Brewers.

The article indicated Krall provided Castellini with a 'laundry list' of trades he had not approved over the years, and that Castellini scoffed at plans/proposals presented over the years.

So many revelations are in the story.

But Krall never spoke to The Athletic. He declined comment.

A national media outlet shined a red hot spotlight on the dysfunction within the organization, and the President of Baseball Operations didn't offer a single word of denial, defense, or explanation.....nothing.

Bob and Phil went on the record with a joint statement to the publication.

Combine all this with the sense that, while Krall's missteps were noted in the article, he got off easy....and that's certainly...... interesting.

A historical trifecta for Elly:
He's now the 4th Cincinnati Reds player ever to total 30 homers and 30 steals in a season, joining Eric Davis, Barry Larkin and Brandon Phillips.

He joins Larkin as the only players in franchise history with 30 HR, 30 SB and 30 2B in a season.

He's the 1st Red and 8th MLB player since 1900 to record 30 steals in each of his first four seasons in the majors.

What an incredible season. He's only 24 years old.
