Really looking forward to this conversation. 📚
On October 15, our founder, Dr. Ashley Solomon, be at Joseph-Beth Booksellers moderating a conversation with Vanessa Scaringi, PhD, CEDS-C, and Kathryn Garland, LCSW, CEDS-C, about their new book, Hungry for Connection: Heal Your Relationships with Food and People in an Insecurely Attached World.
Hungry for Connection looks at our relationships with food through the lens of attachment, asking us to consider what may exist underneath. And it zooms out even further, exploring what happens in a world where so many of us are increasingly disconnected from one another, even while seemingly more “connected” than ever.
We are excited to talk with Vanessa and Kathryn about food, attachment, loneliness, nervous system regulation, diet culture, and what it means to feel genuinely nourished by our lives and our relationships.
Join us at Joseph-Beth on Thursday, October 15. We would love to see some familiar faces there. ❤️
Vanessa Scaringi and Kathryn Garland in conversation with Ashley Solomon discussing and signing Hungry for Connection Joseph-Beth Booksellers has bookstore and restaurant locations in Cincinnati, OH, and Lexington, KY. Whether coming in for storytime, dining at Brontë Bistro, attending an author signing or browsing the new releases, the Joseph-Beth team is happy to help and be part of the community.

“As I walked back to my office after that lunch, I thought about how my own struggle to say no to invitations and opportunities came not from people-pleasing hang-ups., but from this sense of scarcity I possessed.
It wasn’t that I felt pressure to do all these things that I didn’t want to do. It’s that I did want to do them, and I didn’t want to acknowledge being unable. I didn’t want to choose. I didn’t want to acknowledge that my time was finite.”

"When a woman tells me she has always been anxious, but now can’t sleep, can’t manage ordinary life demands, and no longer feels freedom or joy, I don’t assume she needs to work harder to cope.
Instead, I try to understand what has changed, why her vessel is at capacity, and what is now asking more of her than she can sustainably hold. For many, even while doing meaningful work in psychotherapy, symptoms and suffering can grow and overwhelm our capacity to heal.
As a psychiatrist, I step back and look at the whole picture...."

We’re hiring a Practice Coordinator at Galia! 💫
We’re looking for a warm, organized, detail-oriented person to join our team and help keep some of the many moving pieces of our practice running smoothly.
Our Practice Coordinator plays an important role in both the behind-the-scenes operations of Galia and the experience people have when they interact with us. This is a varied role for someone who enjoys people, systems, organization, and being part of a collaborative team.
We’d especially love to find someone who is comfortable juggling multiple priorities, proactive, and attentive to detail. Strong communication skills and good judgment matter a great deal.
This is a part-time (20-25 hours per week) in-person position.
We care deeply about creating an environment that feels thoughtful, human, and genuinely supportive for our clients and for the people who work here.
Interested or know someone who might be a wonderful fit? Please reach out to Tristan at [email protected], or share this post. đź’™

There's managing the money. And then there's managing the management of the money.
Remembering when bills are due. Keeping an eye on the checking account. Researching insurance. Thinking about retirement. Noticing that summer camp registration is coming. Knowing whether that unexpected expense is actually going to be okay.
In many relationships, that invisible financial work isn't particularly visible, or particularly shared.
Love & Money: Managing Finances Together is a one-hour virtual workshop with Rebecca Freking, IMFT, exploring money, mental load, communication, and shared responsibility through principles from the Fair Play Method.
You'll leave with practical ideas for creating more clarity around who carries what and making financial decisions in a way that feels more collaborative.

Next week we'll be hosting Love & Money, a practical, relationship-focused virtual workshop designed to help couples create a more collaborative approach to their financial lives.
Led by couples therapist, Rebecca Freking, IMFT, this one-hour session explores money through the lens of the Fair Play Method, a framework for creating greater clarity, equity, and shared responsibility in relationships.
She'll help us look at how we can move beyond recurring arguments or avoidance and toward open communication, shared decision-making, and a financial life that reflects what matters to everyone.
Details in comments.

"If we as women are spending our time comparing location data, scrolling 2018 photo dumps, or, gasp!, gossiping, it could be worth shifting the question from, “What’s wrong with women?” to “Why might our current structures require women to put so much effort into getting more information?”
"There is no doubt a trope about women’s obsession with investigation. The narrative, at its most generous, pokes fun at women for this, framing the hours we spend down rabbit holes as evidence of our silly hypervigilance. At worst, it paints women as neurotic or paranoid people with so little better to do than engage in elaborate conspiracy-finding missions. Both implications are dismissive. Both let men off the hook entirely."
