They signed up for karaoke. Not a performance review.

Your regulars might own the stage. The person who needed three visits just to sign up? They need a different kind of support.

A comfortable key. A quick explanation. A host who doesn’t turn their nerves into a punchline.

Make them want another turn. Not wonder whether they passed.

How do you help first-time singers feel welcome?

Your best 30 seconds might sell the gig. The rest of the set has to deliver.

Record a practice mix with your local tracks in DEX 4. Then listen back. No skipping the rough transitions, no reaching for a control. Just you, the pacing, the levels, and a little professional honesty.

Would you book that DJ?

What’s the first thing you notice when you hear your own sets back?

We want to hear from you.

If you could choose the next 5 karaoke features to be added to DEX 4 / LYRX, what would they be?

List them in priority order from most important to least important. Whether it’s workflow improvements, singer management, audio tools, requests, catalog features, or something completely new, we want the real-world feedback.

Drop your list in the comments. We’re listening.

The beats line up. The melodies don’t.

Perfect timing doesn’t always mean a smooth mix.

Harmonic mixing pairs tracks in compatible musical keys, helping vocals, melodies, and basslines work together instead of fighting for space. The result? Transitions that feel more natural to the listener.

DEX 4 automatically detects musical keys and displays color-coded key values in your database and search results, helping you spot tracks that could blend well before loading the next deck.

Use the colors to narrow your choices. Let your ears make the final call.

How much does musical key influence your next track?

Your DJ laptop is not the computer you experiment on the night before a wedding.❌

No random driver updates.

No major OS upgrade before Saturday’s gig.

No “I’ll see if this fixes it.”

Treat the machine running the show like production equipment.

Question: How long before a gig do you stop making changes to your system?

More features don’t automatically make a better DJ. 🙂‍↔️

At some point, the real flex is knowing what not to touch.

What DJ software feature do you think gets overused?

Every gig has a curveball. 👀

A surprise request. A last-minute karaoke set. A venue asking for video. A crowd that changes direction.

Flexible software helps you stay ready.

🎤 Solo singers and performing duos: we’re looking for beta testers!

PCDJ is looking for solo performers and duos to help us test PERFORM, a new desktop application we are developing for artists who use backing tracks, karaoke files, lyrics, and video on stage.

Many performers currently rely on several different programs to build sets, play tracks, display lyrics, manage filler music, and adjust their sound. PERFORM is our attempt to bring those jobs together in one application that is practical to use during a real performance.

We are looking for working solo artists and duos who can test the software during rehearsals and live shows, report problems, and tell us what would make it more useful on stage.

This beta test is specifically for live performers.

You can read more about PERFORM and apply to join the beta test here: https://pcdj.com/perform-solo-artist-beta-testers-wanted/

Help Us Shape PERFORM: Private Beta Testers Wanted | PCDJ PCDJ is seeking working solo artists/performers and duets to help beta test PERFORM, a new desktop application built for backing-track-based live performance.

Bad news: **2016 is officially a throwback now.** Apparently, we’re all just supposed to accept that. 😅

Crowds are rediscovering 2015–2017 dance tracks like they’re classics, which means yesterday’s hits are suddenly back in tonight’s requests.

What song makes you feel ancient when someone calls it a throwback?
