Obligatory post tournament post:
Team showed up and showed out going undefeated today at .
I went to a draw against a tough opponent surviving some bad positions and getting in on some leg entanglements but ultimately we battled to a draw. I'm still knocking some of the conspicuously thick rust off but it feels good to be back out there.
My students did way better than I did, all winning their matches by submission.

lived up to his ig handle and won yet another Arena match by electric chair
And last but not least got it done in style by armbar against a tough brown belt
I'm not happy with my results but I didn't lose... so hey, we went undefeated on the day which I guess is worth something 😅

In honor of the new OffYourBackBJJ chainlink gi here's a method of taking the back, attack and armbar and as they defense use their position to hit a quick arm drag.

Obligatory post-match post
Short version: lost the match by decision. Felt good to get back out there after an 11 month hiatus. My opponent was tough and soundly beat me positionally, but i had good moments including some very real looks at subs.
Longer version: As a competitor, I've had my ups and downs, having kids put a lot of my potential endeavors on hold because being at home with my kids is more important than winning professional horseplay and rough housing contests. That being said there is still work to be done, Jimmies to rustle and people to upset. I'm back. I'm gonna gradually ramp things up and see what's what.
The Adamas Jiu Jitsu / Heath Pedigo did great last night with Dante Leon in our corners.
