Learning to Listen… A Gathering

When you’re in the day to day it’s easy to miss all the small parts or lessons. When you take a moment to step back and look at all the parts, pieces, and moments you can see where all the lessons came in and how they shaped you to be who and where you are today. For me, it’s been super fun to look back and see what helped shape my path to lead me to where I am today.

The dog who pushed me to toss the rule book. The pup who helped me trust in my voice. The horse who helped me see how healing my work can be. To the horse who allowed me to realize I can connect with any soul (human or animal) when the moment calls for it most. Where did all of these lessons lead me?

They led me to a space with a small group of women. This session ended up being small in numbers, but huge in impact. This session brought forward so much energy and so much healing. I was able to bring forward all of my previous lessons and hold a space so expansive that I was able to connect with a few humans alongside of the animals for each woman in the group.

Had I been asked a few years ago if I thought that I would be able to hold such a session I would have probably have chuckled nervously and said “hopefully!” But I hadn’t learned from all of these lessons yet. I hadn’t gained the confidence in myself. I hadn’t yet learned to fully trust all of the process to be able to connect to animals in the way I do today.

When I named my group sessions “Gathering of Souls” I didn’t know how expansive that name would become. I knew it would gather souls together. But had no idea at the time that it would lead me to connecting with animal and human souls alike to receive and deliver messages.

Looking back now, it feels impossible to separate this moment from everything that came before it. Every lesson, every animal, every moment of uncertainty prepared me for a session I never could have imagined leading years ago.

It’s not that I developed a new ability. It’s that I trusted in the growth of the abilities I’ve had all along. Allowing each individual experience to expand my capacity a little more each time. Until I was finally able to hold space for any and all souls who needed to step forward.

In the past I have thought that growth primarily happens in the big moments. But what I’ve come to learn is that it happens everywhere. In the conversations that stretch you. In the animals who challenge your way of thinking or doing. In the moments that need to marinate a moment (or sometimes a year) to be able to see the full message.

Learning happens in the loud and in the quiet.
All you need to do is listen with an open heart.

Learning to Listen… Trusting the Connection

There are clients who come for one session, and there are clients whose journeys I get to witness over the course of multiple sessions/years. Kassidy happens to be one of those people who I’ve been able to watch her relationship with her animals and herself evolve. Being alongside her for her journey is one of the greatest privileges of this work. When she reached out to me saying she was finally ready to connect with her horse who passed years ago, I knew this session was going to be different. I just knew there was going to be something extra special about this session.

As I called forward her horse something incredibly beautiful and unexpected happened. He came forward, but once he was beside me he morphed into Kassidy’s grandfather. I’ve had animals bring forward people before, but never in this way. Once her grandfather was fully there her horse came back and joined our gathering. It was right there in that moment that I felt the energy shift and felt how powerful and magical this session was going to be.

The messages that followed flowed with such a gentleness I still think about it today. Her horse would take the floor sharing something and then would quietly step aside for her grandfather to have space to share his messages. They never competed for space or to be heard, knowing that they each held important messages that only they could give. They shared the space and held love and respect not only for each other but for Kassidy and I as well. An image of a tomato sprout kept coming forward to me. I paused and asked her, “Why do I keep seeing a tomato plant? Does that mean anything to you?”

Kassidy was shocked and immediately said that her grandfather’s favorite food was tomatoes. With some help from her we found the bigger message behind the tomato sprout.

What really struck me wasn’t simply that both her horse and her grandfather came forward together. It was the trust they placed in me to carry and deliver their messages that belonged not just to one of them, but both of them individually. What an incredible honor it is to witness that kind of love continue long after both relationships changed.

Looking back, this session didn’t change my understanding of communication as much as it opened my eyes to something much bigger about connections. It showed me how my growth over the years has led me to this moment. And how when the client needs more than what one soul alone can offer, I’m simply there to hold space for whoever steps forward with the messages they need. This session helped me realize something I hadn’t noticed before. All these small moments from before were building upon themselves and leading to something bigger and more beautiful than I could imagine.

Learning to Listen… A Quiet Truth

There are sessions that I remember because of how they helped me grow. Then there are sessions I remember because of the impact they had on myself or my client. Carats is one of those animals who I immediately think of when I reflect on moments that changed me. Our first session together was at a point in time where her person had nowhere else left to go, and wanted to hear some of her final messages. This was one of the first sessions I got to experience just how powerful energy work can be.

At the time of our first session Carats had a lot going on physically, and her mom was doing her best to listen to her but was getting overwhelmed with all the voices around her at the same time. This is what prompted the session, so that her mom could hear her thoughts more clearly.

Though Carats had some really beautiful messages for her mom, the most impactful thing to come from this first session was the physical turn around she made after it. The first thing she asked of me was to do a body cleanse for her. The transformation she went through physically and mentally after that left both her mom and I stunned. She was able to walk sound again, the spark that had been lost returned to her eye, and her spirit carried a lightness neither of us expected her to carry again so quickly and easily. What I didn’t realize after that first session was that our journey together wasn’t done.

When I got to reconnect with her months later, she had more to show and teach me. One of her biggest messages being, “It’s time to turn the page.” I quickly realized that was not just for her mom, but for me as well. She helped me realize that bringing forward messages is only one part of the work I’m meant to do. I also carry the ability to help create healing. And that fully stepping into those gifts wasn’t arrogance. It was responsibility.

The conversation stopped belonging solely to her mom. Carats was speaking to me too. Reminding me that by stepping fully into this work wasn’t arrogance, it was a responsibility. If these messages were truly meant to help others, I couldn’t keep shrinking myself in the process.

Looking back now, I don’t remember Carats simply because of the remarkable changes she experienced, or the specific words she used. I remember her for the way she changed the way I understand this work. And for the way she helped me change the feel and flow of my sessions. My sessions once lacked the depth of what the animal needed physically and mentally, but now they pair both together seamlessly fully supporting the whole animal in every way.

Each animal leaves me with something different. Carats left me with the quiet understanding that messages we receive don’t always end when the session does. Sometimes they become the foundation for what follows.

Learning to Listen… Beyond Doubt

After my session with the rule-tossing doggo, I noticed a subtle shift in my sessions. Allowing myself the freedom of less “rules” and structure, my sessions flowed more seamlessly. Being able to connect “in real time” with the animal and their person was less daunting and added another layer of depth and connection to my sessions. What I didn’t know at the time was that there was another doggo lying in wait with my next big lesson. This time, the lesson wasn’t as focused on the animals, but more focused on myself and my own journey.

There are certain people in our lives who come to us for bigger reasons than we are initially aware of. Shayleigh is one of those people for me. Over the years our relationship has evolved to being both friend and mentor. When we first met because I booked a session with her, I had no idea I would one day be doing a session for her. And that this session would be such a pivotal moment for me and the work I do.

At the time that our session came about, I was struggling a bit with self-doubt and the clarity of the messages I was receiving. So when she asked if I wanted to trade services, I was equally excited and nervous. As I wanted to be sure that I did well enough to have something she felt was worth the trade. What transpired during our session was beyond what I could have ever hoped for.

In our session, her pup recounted a memory that held a lot of fear for her. One that Shayleigh knew all too well. But was prompted from her girl to ask about not because she needed the answers, but because she knew I needed the validation in myself and my own abilities. As we walked through this memory together, Shayleigh was excited for me, for the accuracy in which I received all the parts, and grateful for my twist of interpretation on the situation to help her assist her beautiful pup more.

What became impossible to deny as we moved through their session wasn’t that I could receive messages accurately. It was more about learning to trust myself. She was offering me permission to stop measuring my worth by whether I had earned my spot next to a person I admired. Permission to realize that I wasn’t there because I had it all figured out, but because I had something meaningful to contribute.

One of the greatest gifts from that session wasn’t simply what the doggo shared. It was experiencing someone I respect celebrate what I have to offer rather than compare it to her own gifts. Somewhere along the way I unknowingly placed mentors on a pedestal, forgetting they were once beginners too. That day reminded me that this work isn’t about standing in someone else’s light or trying to create a brighter one. It’s allowing your own to shine beside theirs.

I thought I was there to help Shayleigh with her doggo, but really, her pup was the one who was there to help me. To help me understand and to trust myself more. To help me learn how to loosen my grip on the belief I had to earn my place within the process.

Learning to Listen… Not Lead

It’s interesting to me to see where and how things have progressed. I’ve had some really cool sessions recently, and I’ve done some reflecting on my time as an animal communicator.

I look back to some of my earliest connections. How curious I was about the work and yet so organized in how I did it. I had such a set of “rules” or “guidelines” that I felt I needed to follow to do each connection.

I had a set way of starting each connection. I had a mental checklist I would run through before, during, and after the session.

Start here. Move to this. Don’t forget to add that.

I didn’t do this because I lacked trust in the animals or the connection. I did it because I lacked trust in myself. The depth and connection were there, but there was such a structure to it all.

Then one day I had a session with a doggo who challenged me and all of my structure. He looked at the structure and simply told me “That’s not for me.” He then showed me tossing a rule book across the room and encouraged me to do the same. I hesitated for a moment but then followed suit, trusting the process and that he was here to guide me into my next step forward.

One of his messages to his person was that he’s here to help teach her how to use her own voice again. But looking back at that part, I realize he was also doing the same for me. That was the first time that I truly believed I didn’t need to be the one to fully lead the session.

Looking back, I don’t think he was asking me to abandon structure altogether. Merely just inviting me to loosen my grip on it a little. Helping me see that my role is not to create the path and then guide us down it, but to allow the path to be discovered by both my clients and me. Showing me how sometimes the deepest connections happen when I’m along for the journey and discovery just as much as the person is.

Looking back now, I realize that day wasn’t about structure at all. (Or at least not only about it.) It was more about trust.

Trusting the animal... Trusting the process.

And most of all, the beginning of me learning how to trust myself.

I didn’t know it then, but that trust was about to be tested in a way I never expected.

There are moments during a connection session that still stop me in my tracks. A feeling an animal shares that their person immediately recognizes. A perspective that shifts something. A message that arrives at exactly the right time.

Those moments are why I do this work.

The animals I’ve had the privilege of connecting with have taught me so much, and as Threaded Souls continues to grow, I’d love to open that space to some new animals and the people who love them.

For the first 7 new clients who book a Connection Session before June 30th, I’m offering a special rate of $45 as a thank you for supporting and helping Threaded Souls grow.

Whether you’re looking for insight into a behavior, wanting a deeper understanding of your relationship, navigating a life transition, or simply curious about what your animal would like to share, I’d be honored to hold that space for you.

These sessions often feel like sitting down with an old friend and discovering there was more to the story all along. They can bring clarity, comfort, validation, laughter, healing, and sometimes an entirely new way of seeing the animal standing beside you.

If you’ve been feeling the nudge to book a session, I’d love to connect.

✨To honor the unique nature of End-of-Life Sessions, this special rate is available for Connection Sessions only.

Send me a message to learn more or reserve one of the available spots.

✨Come as you are. Your animal already knows the way.✨

Val’s message was centered around competitions and clinics. Not because that’s all we/I want to do, but because of the blockage/disconnect I have with that part of our story and our day to day.

She spoke about how well we connect and communicate at home and how I want to be able to do this while on the road. She showed me a traveling bubble. Using the phrase I use so often, “we’re on an island.” I use that phrase frequently when speaking about our home life. She showed me how a traveling bubble can help us bring home with us.

Tuesday I took Val to a nearby facility to do our normal ride to try and practice our traveling bubble. Our time off property was so beautiful and so helpful for our current journey.

It took us a moment to find a place that was “right” for that day’s agenda. Once we found it we both set to work learning how to do this new but old thing. Old me would have hand walked a few laps and said we need to lunge to be able to do the work we want/plan to do today. Today me said if we only hand walk that’s fine. She isn’t the only one with energy she doesn’t know where to put it.

So we walked. … And we walked.

We took in all of the new around us.

We walked some more.

When I felt the energy shift I took her to the mounting block to see if I could ride her. She gave me a clear “no not yet”. So we walked some more. Then a friend rode into the arena. I took time to chat with her. Both of our focus shifted.

It shifted from fight or flight to hanging and relaxing. I walked with her a little more then said to her “let’s give this one more try. Give me a clear yes or no at the mounting block.” As I stepped up to the block her whole body relaxed and she said “let’s do this. We’re ready”

So we did it. We walked and trotted around the ring like we do at home. An open book easy for the both of us to read.

Today I realize how much I don’t need to say I’m sorry, but how much I need to thank the past. Today I celebrate four trot laps.

But if I’m being totally honest, the four laps weren’t what mattered most. What mattered was realizing that the connection we have at home isn’t tied to our property, our routine, or familiar surroundings. It can travel with us.

Today I found Val’s voice loud and clear while we were off property. For today, I celebrate our traveling bubble.

I love all of my animals and all of the different perspectives they bring forward to my attention.

Chazz is a little dog with a very large personality. How appropriate that he is a little dog in a great big world.

Yesterday while working out in the barn he came up to me so very happy and proud of his little stick that he found.

We took a few moments to play with and enjoy the pure happiness a tiny little stick brought a cute little dog.

His reminder was small in delivery, but big in impact.

Don’t allow yourself to forget to find happiness, even in the smallest of things. The world is big, but often times the smallest things bring the biggest joy.

Take a page out of Chazz’s book. Find your little stick and allow it to fill you up with all the joy possible. Then share that happiness with those around you.

In continuation of Rose asking to have a voice. Here is a small snippet of her and I the other day. The first time I so loudly and clearly asked Rose to have and use her voice.

It could look like there isn’t much happening or being communicated in this video, but when you look close and really tune in, there is loads being said.

At first I set an intention and energy to the lunge line - The type of work I planned to do if she chose that equipment. And then presented the line to her. I then did the same thing with her bridle.

With the lunge line she processed the energy and question. When I presented the bridle she quickly said no thank you. However, my “human brain” was expecting a big yes or no. So when she offered a soft no (quick soft ear pin) I missed the answer. I asked her to give me a stronger yes or no. That she could feel safe using her voice. This time the ear pin was stronger and my gut got a no thank you. As soon as I acknowledged that she gave a big release and thank you.

I finished by presenting the lunge line again because I wanted her to truly be on board with the work session. This time I added when presenting it to her that the answer could be no again if she wanted. What I got this time was “I’m willing if you really want me to.” I thanked her again for her clear use of her voice. I gave her scratches and love and returned her to her stall.

I share this to show that even though I’m an animal communicator I still miss messages sometimes. I too struggle with my “human brain” vs intuition at times.

If you’re learning how to connect and hear your animals/intuition more know that you have it in you. If you feel like you’re missing something just ask your animal or the universe for a stronger sign that you can’t/won’t miss. They will oblige and help you out.
