HOUSE TEAMS ARE IN FULL EFFECT AT CLARK! Friday was the day for our newest house team members in 3rd grade and all new students to Clark School to spin to find out which house team they will join! It was an exciting day!

Mrs. Winkler’s kindergarten class with Mrs. Bracero and Mrs. Barnhill were all about hands-on learning for Johnny Appleseed Day! During math students were practicing their number recognition skills, counting and graphing. In Science class they used their inquiry skills to conduct an apple experiment and finally during ELA is was all about writing! The day ended with a sweet apple treat!

Our kindergarten students in Mrs. Swindell’s classroom with Mrs. Wills, Mrs. Barnhill and Mrs. Gonzalez enjoyed all of their learning experiences on Johnny Appleseed Day! The students learned about Johnny Apple Seed and the life cycle of an apple, in math they focused on counting numbers 1 through 5 and identifying apple shapes, and finally made an apple craft with identifying their letters. Using their senses they tasted apples and even got to experience making an apple pie.
Making learning FUN is what it is all about!

What a wonderful day to tip our hats to both our students, fathers, grandfathers, uncles, adult brothers and father figures! Clark School’s Fathers Walk never disappoints. We encourage all men who picked up the special journal to answer one question a day to create a memoir keepsake for your child.

TOMORROW IS OUR ANNUAL FATHERS WALK TO SCHOOL AT 9:30! Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, stepfathers, adult brothers, and/or adult males be sure to accompany your Clark School student(s) to encourage them in their academic career. We will have donuts for all men and special journals that you can create to share, and different photo stations. We hope you can join us tomorrow.

Mrs. Chamberlin’s Science class is the place to be! Students were tasked with investigating the unique properties of water through hands-on inquiry, actively engage in scientific exploration, and explain how these properties affect the world around us.

Did you know that Clark School offers Algebra I for our 8th graders to earn high school credit! Mrs. Crane and her Algebra students are in full swing as they begin solving algebraic equations using “Math Talk” to explain their answers and defend their explanations!

Our 6th graders in Mrs. Wansack’s Science class were busy last week learning about the Design Process with a Hands On Lab titled Measure and Problem Solve. Students investigated the factors that affect speed and distance that a car travels and designs ways to increase distance. They were given the same materials to compete to determine which group could initiate the best build and performance at the onset. Then, they had to test their creations. Students were invited to use/create any materials within their circle of influence to enhance their designs.

Our 8th graders in Mr. Halls and Mrs. Lydes’s ELA
were learning about the differences in first person and third person point of view last week and to show what they know, they created their own stories to demonstrate that they could use both points of view in writing.
