Who remembers when Google thought an NBA journeyman was worth a billion dollars?

During the 2017-2018 season, the Cavs needed help in the backcourt.

They just traded Kyrie Irving.

Isaiah Thomas and Derrick Rose were injury prone.

Dwyane Wade wanted to head back to South Beach.

As an insurance policy, they signed 6'3" Jose Cadleron.

At that point, Calderon had already played 12 seasons in the NBA.

When a team with LeBron signs a new player, news travels VERY fast.

When fans looked up Jose Calderon for his highlights or career stats, the first headline that popped up was his net worth listed at $2.2B.

Calderon was set to inherit a part of his father's fortune who cofounded a Coca-Cola bottler and convenience company named FEMSA.

In the end, none of it was true.

Google mixed him up with Mexican billionaire Jose Calderon Rojas who probably didn't mind the error since he preferred to keep a low profile anyway.

The reality is that Calderon made $84M in NBA contracts and has a reported net worth of $35M.

Not quite $2.2B, but a $35M net worth as a consolation prize is still pretty impressive. 💰

The Cleveland Cavaliers had some massive decisions to make this offseason. 👀

Cleveland reportedly could’ve traded Evan Mobley for either Giannis Antetokounmpo or Jaylen Brown, moves that could’ve completely changed the direction of the franchise and potentially even the outcome of LeBron James’ free agency.

Instead, the Cavaliers chose to triple down on Mobley, showing just how much they believe in him as a centerpiece for the future.

It was likely the right call for the long-term health of the franchise, but with that commitment comes even more pressure on Mobley to take that next leap and prove Cleveland made the right bet, per Jason Lloyd.

Now, it’s Mobley’s time to show why the Cavs chose him over everything else. 🔥

Mario Hezonja isn’t coming back to the NBA trying to be a star. He’s embracing being a role player.

At Cleveland Cavaliers Media Day, Hezonja made it clear he doesn’t want isolation touches. When Donovan Mitchell explained Cleveland’s ISO sets, Hezonja joked that if he has to ISO, Mitchell might have to pay him himself.

His priority is simple: help Mitchell and James Harden get their shots.

Set screens. Space the floor. Defend. Make the right plays.

After becoming an ACB MVP and winning multiple championships in Europe, Hezonja knows what is needed to win championships, and he knows what he has to do.

He just wants to help Cleveland win.

Jaylon Tyson deserves a bigger role in Cleveland this upcoming season. 👀

After showing real improvement during his sophomore season, Tyson proved he can be a reliable weapon from deep, shooting an impressive 44.6% from three.

That kind of shooting gives the Cleveland Cavaliers another valuable floor-spacer who can punish defenses when they leave him open, and with more confidence in his shot, he could bring even more to the table this season.

If Tyson gets more opportunities, there’s a chance we could see another major step forward from him in Cleveland. 📈

Don’t sleep on Jaylon Tyson. He deserves the opportunity to show what he can really do. 🔥
