It’s Banned Books Week! 📚 Read, gift or donate a banned book.

We’re collecting banned books for artist Amanda Love’s Inventory of Lost Books. Donate yours at any Cleveland Public Library location and see it become part of RENEW, an immersive installation opening in March 2027.

All Cleveland Public Library locations will be closed today, Wednesday, October 7, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for staff development.

Libraries will reopen from 2-6 p.m.

Cleveland has made its mark far beyond the city limits, and this week’s Cleveland 230 honorees helped put it on the map.

This week’s honorees are:

#144 Yvette Nicole Brown - A Warrensville Heights High School graduate, she is an actor, writer, producer and host best known for her role as Shirley on the NBC sitcom “Community”.

#145 Harvey Pekar - His comic book series “American Splendor” reflected his life in Cleveland, and helped turn autobiographical, slice-of-life storytelling into a respected art form.

#146 Drew Carey - The comedian and actor is a graduate of Rhodes High School in Cleveland, and featured the city prominently in his primetime TV sitcom during the 1990s.

#147 Arnold Pinkney - He was an attorney and Cleveland school board member who served as a political strategist for several history-making national campaigns.

#148 Russo Brothers - The Russo brothers are movie directors who have used their platform to showcase their Cleveland hometown and create local jobs.

#149 Michael Symon - The James Beard Award-winning chef and national TV personality has elevated Cleveland’s reputation as a food destination.

#150 David Gilbert - As leader of Destination Cleveland and Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, he is a driver in bringing massive events to Northeast Ohio.
