“You never truly know what someone is going through.”

I heard these words countless times growing up: Be kind. Be friendly. Help those in need. But it wasn’t until later that I understood how deeply those words mattered.
As a child, my family was broken. My mom was a single mother doing her best to raise two boys, and my dad wasn’t in the picture. As the youngest, I desperately wanted my father to love me.
Love always seemed like the hardest thing for me to find.
I watched other children with their families, and they seemed so happy. I couldn’t understand why I didn’t feel the same way. I tried my hardest to be kind, make friends, and help others—but inside, I still felt completely lost.

At the age of ten, after a painful incident with my mom and older brother, I tried to take my own life.

The next morning, I went to school carrying this pain no child should have to carry. Nobody knew what had happened. Nobody knew how badly I was hurting. Behind every conversation and every ordinary moment was a battle no one else could see.
Nobody knew.

Years passed, and healing didn’t happen overnight. It took time, reflection, support, and the realization that what happened to me did not have to define the rest of my life.
The pain didn’t simply disappear, but I began learning how to live beyond it. I discovered that my worth wasn’t determined by who left, what I had endured, or whether someone else chose to love me. I began to understand that my life still had meaning and that my story was not finished.

I’m sharing this because someone around you may be fighting a battle in silence. The person who smiles at you may be barely holding on. Your kindness could be the reminder they need that they are seen, valued, and not alone.
And if you are the one struggling today, please hear this:
Your pain is not the end of your story.�You are not forgotten.�You are not beyond hope.�You are worthy of love, support, and a future.
Even when nobody else knows what you’re carrying, you do not have to carry it alone.
