Celebrate Home Movie Day, the annual worldwide event honoring amateur filmmaking and preservation, on Monday, October 19th, at 6:30 pm with a special Home Movie Night, hosted by the University of South Carolina’s Moving Image Research Collections (MIRC). The evening begins with French director André Bonzel’s compelling and whimsical documentary memoir, Flickering Ghosts of Loves Gone By, presented in Cannes Classics at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.

The screening will be followed by a conversation with MIRC’s Daniela Currò, Laura Major, and Kimberly O’Quinn, who will present a curated selection of home movies and other moving-image materials from the archive that resonate with the documentary.
